Gay Park Passes

Just got back from Wawa, and the new park pass program is so stupid. i think the mountain just found a new way to make 5 bucks. first of all, they make you go through a 45 minute course on park safety. second, almost all of the kids were 10 years old, wearing jeans and rear entry boots. for instance, i called out 'dropping' and as soon as I said that some old woman starts a snowplow right down the middle of the pipe. when I get to the bottom, i asked her what she was doing she replies' I was tricking, u got a problem with that'

yes, the mothers and their preschoolers did watch the video and buy passes. i guess i could see where the profit comes in, just not at wachusett. the crowleys are greedy as fuck. they wont spend any money on the park, which is already really nice

As long as there are parks, there are always going to be stupid ass gappers that go through them it is just something that we have to deal with, maybe if you went skiing during the week you wouldn't see so many. Bottom line skip school go skiing

a park pass is good but bad...it benefits because the money goes the park and only the park which allows upgrades, but it still doesnt keep the little jackasses out of the park..i mean whats 5$?

i wouldnt mind a park pass at all here in colorado because of all the god damn texans who come skiblading and cut you off. the only bad thing is it would be hard for tourists who are actually really into park because that means they gotta take time out of their vacation just so they can ride hte park. the resorts would lose money and customers i think. it is definitely a benefit for locals though

there would be even more 10 year olds with rear entry boots and their mothers if it weren't for the park pass, and it means more money going back into the park. look at whistler. their highest level is heaps less crowded than the other parks, and every now and then you get a shit person in there, but it's much worse outside where a special pass isn't required. and even though the passes are cheap, they help to buy the resort new rails, a better park crew, or whatever. whistler's system kicks butt and the park crew are awesome with maintenance and shit.

The 5 dollars doesnt go towards the park it goes towards a raffle for free shit which they will be giving out, but not sure when though. And you only have to watch a five minute video and fill out a form. There is no 45 minute lesson. It is the best thing that ever happend to wachusett becuase it took away 75 percent of those little shits which is good in my book.

It true, $5 at your resort or wherever you are does not go to the park. In the case of WB for instance, its completely to pay for the administration of the passes - seriously - and frankly, to make the buyers feel like there is more seriousness to the pass. In places like Whistler and Blue, a pass-program for a gated park works really well, and is really important.

Your mountain staff need to get their poop in a group to make it work right.

no. i doesnt take any little shits away. of course, this might have been because it was a friday night. and the course wasnt 45 minutes, but we had to stand in the cold, fill out forms, and watch a video which combinded took 45 minnutes.

And yes, it does keep the vast majority of the little shits out of the park.
Since they instituted the pass last monday, I have not been cutoff yet in the park (6 nights of skiing) before the pass I was getting cutoff atleast every other run!
I don't know where you're getting 45m, it only took as long as it takes for one run (my buddy skied down and by the time he got back up the chairlift, I was done) It should be 45m though, with a test to pass at the end, that would be great!

In my opinion, the Park Pass has been a great idea! And so far has worked pretty well.
I was more than happy to pay the $5 and watch a little movie

at a place like breck i wish we had something like that. we get so many gappers that just come down through the park like its just another run. but they snak like its nothing. ive knuckled or flatted over many a 50ft jump there because a tourist wa in the way and i didnt want too kill them. i hope vail resorts is looking into this, it would be totaly worth the 5 bucks too me.

i wish my mountain had a park pass. i would be willing to pay an extra $50 for the year if it kept the weekend warriors and school groups out of the park. i had been cut off, run into, and run off jumps far too many times this season, and i have been injured because of it.

at stratton you need to get a power park pass and it definatly helps people stay out of there park and that pass also works for whistlers park so if all ski areas some how joined togther or at least major ones with big parks they could make a slightly more dificult test/corse that would take more time and cost like 20 but it would be good for every moutain. this would stop any joeys from completing it becaus ethey woulnt waste a few hours of there time and spend 20 to go through a park. we would all just have to scarafice a day of skiing or a half day and 20 for a beter park experence everywhere and for the whole season. that is just like an idea i had it would never happen though but it would definatly be good

what happined to drugs, sex, & rock and roll...now adays we have aids crack and techno.......

Think all parks should do it, but enforce it. If your not going to use the features then YOU DONT GET A PASS. If your just going to ski through the park and not hit a single thing just to say 'yeh I went through the park' then you should not be allowed in it, or should not be allowed to just go through it OVER AND OVER and do nothing. Not only is it stupid, but it is not safe for those of us who are using the features.

Also the passes don't really encourage safe skiing, they just do it to lower their inssurance. When I did it last year at stratton, a snowboarder who was clearly new to the park was also going through it. The second we got out of it, he didn't go through the park to check things out, but instead thought it would be great to hit a battleship rail. He ended up with about 8 inches of his shin being split wide open. At the bottom I asked him something about it and he said yeh it was my first rail ever. This rail was a more technical rail that someone who has never hit a rail before SHOULD NOT HIT.

Anyway to end this rant. I think it is a good idea, but it needs to be rethought, or enforced, or something.

yeah my hill has had the park pass for awhile, and I love it. obviously anyone can get a pass but the fact that the effort has to be made keeps out a LOT of people who might just cut in for a run or 2. lift lines are short, courtesy is generally better than most places where any idiot can come in to catch some sweet air off the side of a rail jump.

i agree the park pass would be a good, thing, but one problem would be that i ski with a group that goes to a different hill every weekend, that would mean that i would have to take the course every weekend, and i the day is short enought all ready, it doesnt need to be much shorter.

mountain creek has a park pass and at first it was intensely gay but then i was at the smaller park where you dont need a park pass and i almost flipped a shit at this family. the park pass is pretty awesome
