They come into the park wearing all their gear acting like hot shots and then will be so rude and ignorant on the lift

When coaches take their little 8 year old racers in their race gear into the park to side hit and roll over jumps when half the time you can’t even get the speed to ski I’ve over the take off.

Its kind of what they gotta do to become an olympian... Im sure Bode, Ted, and Schiffren were all part of those crews that are "so cocky." You get a lot of little cocky assholes in both ski racing and park. Its kind of part of how you grow up if your a grom. Judge the guys that are still acting like that when they should be mature brotha.

This coach had her mini racers going up and over the jump. Most couldn't even make it over the top, and ended up duck walking over. I kicked them off, made the rest walk around and the coach ski up and freaked out on me. I calmly explained that they couldn't do that, that they were destroying the lip, and that the jump was way to big for them.

The coach freaked out and said she was going to talk to management and get me fired. I told ahead. Never heard anything else about it. Assuming either she chilled the fuck out, or management told her to get fucked.

Still though, that cocky "we own the mountain" attitude is what people hate. I don't have any problem with ski racing, but if you're a douche you're a douche.

I'm getting real sick of it, just because you get a groomer roped off for you doesn't mean that you're the best skier on the mountain and everything should be handed to you. I see the fuckers cutting lines, cutting people off and it makes me want to throw them off the fucking lift.

Also you can get flagged by yellow jackets while sliding sideways practically crawling through the base area for going "too fast"

and have a pack of racers almost hit several people flying through full speed never even get talked to.

My school does a day trip to Holimont every year. It’s a private resort in NY that opens to the public on Presidents’ Day. Last year the racer kids were dicks; They spit on us from the lift and heckled us for not being members. It’s pretty funny tho cuz most of them are just rich kids who are bad at skiing

Hahaha this is the definition of Holimont. One day they'll get bought by holiday valley though and the rich kids will have to deal with us.

Damn I'm a racer and since I'm on this site and I know how much you guys hate us, I always yell at my friend's for being fucking retards, like I'm like "dude why the fuck are you going until the lift line at full speed" and they're always ignorant fucks. I try my best to be sensible, and where we train isn't actually on the piste, the sloe we train in has a designated side path for training so we don't get in the way

Also I want to clarify. I have nothing against the sport of ski racing. It’s great for technique and a lot of big mountain skiers were once ski racers but some ski racer piss me off

Yea thanks, I was skiing past(not in) the park and I got a couple "Hah Gay!" And "Racer Fags" (rough translation from German) so it's nice hearing from people who aren't douches

Going to assume you ride stratton...grew up racing there. Agree its insane the runs they close down for them.. That being said...they are probably some of the best skiers on the mountain and N. American is an awesome run to run races on.

I'm a liftee, why don't ski racers that come here every weekend not know how to ride our lifts? Also the obvious side hitting an snaking in the park too, but why does the coach encourage them to go into the park?

It's a good, difficult and fun sport, just like park skiing. But not every racer is like that so please don't generalize like that

Dude, I am in the same boat as you. I joined the race team at my university originally because members get 75% off season passes... Unintentionally Ive gotten into racing a little bit... Ive met some great people who are really respectful and you probably wouldnt even knew were racers, also people who are complete assholes...

I think the same environment exists to some extent in some park scenes, with the jerks who think they are on top of the world... But these guys usually end up getting flushed out by the more chill park community... With racing ive noticed the toxic behavior almost seems encouraged.

I think it might have something to do with the ski race academy's....I've never met a skiier I wanted to ski with, that went to one of those instead of regular high school.


My goal is to get involved with the beer leagues of ski racing... Seems like a fucking blast, just race down to the bars! Maybe last place has to buy everyone a round of beer...

Not had the chance to try any of their beef. They don't even want to share their lanes so not really expecting them to share their food. Oh well, I had to chuckle at the race coach guy that I rode up the chair with Sunday. He was taking down the course and I asked if he was stoked to ski pow. Dude said he forgot his poles and only had his doberman race skis because he was so focused on the race he didn't even realize there would be pow. Guy was still stoked and said he was planning to charge right into the trees anyways. This was way out at Anthony Lakes were everyone is super duper nice and there are actually way more head of beef than people.

dont really give a shit about hating racers or anything but it is kinda funny seeing how visibly butthurt the race teams are at PCMR because there was more priority to get the super pipe and big lines open vs. the race center haha.

Everyone saying (alot of) the racers have a real attitude problem, I agree with you.

BUT in terms of the perks they get, closed off runs etc., you have to realise that they pay a fuck tonne of money to be able to train, and without closed off runs they couldn't actually train how they have to...

At a recent ski race at my hill we saw some little racers kids walk into the area where park crew keeps the rails and they snapped multiple poles for closing stuff off, picked up someones snowboard and moved it, and walked into the park shack. Park crew was in the lodge and didn't see them. Also the race team coaches stomped all over a jump we made that was nowhere near their race course a couple weeks ago.

I did a straight air mute over a medium-sized jump. Two 8 year old ski racers were skiing down the fucking middle of the landing and I almost killed both of them.

Yeah I know, but normally the attitude problems come from their overprivileged lives outside skiing. The ones who live actually modest lives, and understand that their families are sacrificing alot for them are actually really nice. It's the ones who are used to having what they want, ski racing being one of them, that have the real attitude problems

One of the routes I take in the morning to fire up lifts at work is a run they use to train on a few times a week and every other weekend or so they have races on it, whenever i know they will be roping it off I make sure to lay down the most obnoxious snowmobile tracks I can get away with.
