Skiing without goggles?

Birk ruud did his big air at this years xgames completely without googles. I feel like when im spinning in the park i get a better sense of awareness when i have my goggles off. I think vanular didnt wear them in lss too.
Anybody else rip without goggles?

If you like skiing without them take them off.

Why does it matter what pros have taken them off. It doesn’t effect what you can do... unless your eyes freeze shut.

Sometimes when it gets dark out and I forget my clear googles, I ski without googles. Truth be told, you do get a better sense of vision without them. It all depends on the conditions outside. If your squinting your whole run, it's not going to be worth it.

I skied a ton without goggles when i was living in whistler, and still on the east coast. I do prefer it for rails, but at the end of the day it is bad for your eyes if it is sunny or snowing/raining. trying to get more used to riding park with them on

I used to never ski with goggles until one day it was snowing a ton and I couldn't see shit cuz I was continuously blinking. Now I can't ski without them or my eyes will water up from going fast.

Not to mention, they protect your eyes from the sun as well as penetrating and blunt injuries.

I typically wear sunglasses as I cant fit my regular glasses in my goggles and cant see shit without glasses.
Sometimes during snowmaking though i wish that I had a pair....that hurts.

If there is no snow falling, it in't sunny, and I'm just hitting rails for a few hours, I leave them in the car.

I wear non-prescription contacts to reduce wind resistance, swing weight, and strain on neck ligaments.

Goggles really affect my depth perception for some reason, I find it way harder to see variations in the snow with them on/judge anything for the park or jumps. I usually only wear them for groomed slopes, and not for anything in the park, glades, etc..

I never had problems wearing them until I didn't. If I wore sunnies a bunch or had them up because low light etc. I feel like if I just put the goggle on and ride for a bit they feel fine, especially after a few days.

Good point, I think that happened to me too. I might try to wear them more this season to get used to them again.

Meh, there's something majestic about flying along, beer in hand, hair whipping behind. The cool breeze on your face. Sunnies or bust. You think you look as good with goggles on? Fuck no, and it's all about looks.

Idk, I prefer shades to goggles though. I got too used to riding with them while working. I def like goggles on pow days but I'll rock sunnies pretty much any time I can make them work.

I like having them on when its negative temperatures. Keeps your eyelids from sticking together. I dont like wearing them when its warm out though

And then, separate thought, if you're charging idk how you can hit top speed without goggles, but now I'm remembering not everyone has contacts that wanna dry out in that airspeed

Oh word yeah, skiing with nothing is savage. Ice crystals are no bueno. Plus somebody was saying they ski trees? I def want my eyes covered in the trees. Also the sun is a motherfucker, especially at elevation. Save yo eyes peoples!

This happened to a friend at MHSSC a few summers ago. Had red eyes all week.

If you want to be like henrik and wear your goggles backwards, go for it. Personally, I hate skiing without goggles because the wind makes my eyes water.

I like skiing with shades instead of goggles unless it's really cold. I think they look better and are easier to take on and off - plus I think I have better peripheral vision which helps so I don't have to turn my head as much when skiing switch

Maybe I just have the eyes of a baby lamb, but I legit cant ride without something covering my eyes, or else they'll start watering like crazy in the wind. Even on warm spring days I need to put on shades or safetys.

I can't stand trying to ride without googles. That being said, even in really low light there is still a lot of glare coming off snow - which is actually stronger than the ambient light. Not great for your eyes, but they're your eyes so do as you please.

No joke last year I was skiing at killy and my goggles kept freezing over so I tried to go without them. My eyes started watering and then halfway down the trail my eyelashes froze together and I couldn’t see anything. I guess if it’s cold enough for that to happen I would suggest keeping your goggles on

I've always worn goggles, in the spring some sunglasses work well, but i just noticed that everyone in the midwest it seems skis without em, i dont know how to ski without em, shit hurts when u start going more than a mile an hour

Never wear goggles. Downloaded sum ski app to see how fast I went when charging from the top to bottom on a groomer. My eyes didn't feel bad going 70km/h but they watered a bit.
Soo, I will never wear them unless it's snowing like fuck.
