Lib Tech UFO 100

Like said, haven't seen any model from lib tech. I think they don't have a retailer here in Finland.

I looked at buying Lib Tech skis but there isn't a shop near me ~400km that can do tuning on the edges so I went a different direction. They look super fun.

any shop can tune the edges on ufo100s. The magne traction has been toned done dramatically over the years on the lib skis and any shop that cannot handle mini mag is pretty much useless in my book - the bumps are pretty imperceptible imo.

i would not worry more about hitting rails with these than any other freestyle oriented ski. They work well, are kinda playful, yet work pretty well both in softer snow and while going fast on groomers - something that cannot be said of the ufo115s that are too soft to really work well on hard pack (not that the 100s are stiffer - they're not - it is just that with the extra width and mass i find the 115s to be too jittery at speed - something they will remedy for 2019 - whilst the 100s stays the same). Personally i would like for the ends to be a bit narrower, but all said and done, they are fine skis. And yes, i have both the ufo100/115s and the slightly more directional (flexwise) wunderstick. I think that mounted a bit more centered than the "sweet spot" the ufo100 is probably a really fun and versatile resort playstick.

if you wanna get em in finland then just order them from blue tomato or sport bittl at a steal. 2017 and 2018 model years are the same sans the graphic.

Good info. I was shopping the wreckreate from a couple years back and the edge issue was brought up to me. When I researched the only shop certified? recommended? by libtech was in Tahoe, not nearly close enough for me to drop them off after work.

wrecks are pretty mellow magne wise as well, much less magne than the old pows and freerides.The magne has been toned down a lot over the years, Yes it made sense and skied pretty well, but i think most non ex snowboarders were just put of lib skis from the edges. At at the end of the day most skis with sharp edges skis pretty well, and the whole notion that detuned magne edges work on ice is plain nonsense - even if it works well in most other snow condtions.

Yes, i have owned most of their offerings - wreck100/freeride/freeride hp/pow/wreck115 and fff/ufo100/115s/wunderstick - so opinions are based on personal experience. I was a bit of a lib fan boy there for a while, but have since largely moved on due to finding other shapes that work better with my riding style, how i prefer the skis to perform and for the snow conditions i usually ride :)

Thanks for fullfilling answer man! Though didn't worry about tuning the edges, just do they crack on rails etc. Would you describe them as a soft/buttery ski? Just found the offer at sport bittl and that's why i started the thread. Also thinking what's your consider center mounting them? Or should i just find another offer another ski for park riding..

i do not ski park - yet - so i might not be the best to answer any park related question. The reason i mentioned the more centrish mount is that the sweet spot position is a bit set back probably to accomodate better on piste/soft snow skiing. I just assumed that if buttering and railing was the main goal - and not soft snow performance - a more centered mount might be better,

the skis are not terribly stiff - yet no noodle underfoot where they are pretty supportive. The tips and tails are pretty soft though, so yeah, i think they will butter with ease. I do not think that Lib's edges are any more prone to cracking than any other edges, with or without mini mag.

Of the two i preferred the ufo100 over the ufo115 - the latter was just too soft for where i i ride and the kind of riding i do. I suspect that a lot of jibbier freestylers will quite like ufo115s, especially as soft snow playstick. For me, transitioning between icy groomers and tracked out soft snow, they just did not behave as i wanted them to. I bought them mainly to try them and to gain experience on that kind of a ski, so i am glad that i tried em. If i lived in a spot with more flyffy light snow, i would probably have retained them. The ufo100s did work well for me though, but decided to try something else in that segment as well - something a bit more symmetrical and narrower up front - instead of remounting them. I am not sure if that was the best decision, but alas, too late now ;)

for the price they charge right now you get a lot of high quality ski for your money. The dimensions are pretty decent and not very controversial, the graphics are kinda nice as well, so i think they are def worth a go. They are very intuitive and easy to ski. If you for some reason do not like them, selling them on at a (for you) decent price shouldn't be too hard, especially for more recreational non jibby skier that the ski works very well for in the sweet spot mount.
