theabortionatorDid he give her a drink, or did he give her vodka and try and get her drunk. I've been given drinks when I was underage and done the same in a totally not creepy way.
Idk.
Wasn't she suing him at first for getting kicked out of the band, money he owed her, and how she didn't like having to travel and he was mean to her? Idk, I don't remember the initial articles that well but I remember it seeming super sketch on her part, even if he was a creepy douche.
TheBagOTricksHas anyone landed a triple in pipe other than 1 super sketch one? I thought NS hates triples why do we want them in pipe?
TheHamburglarThat's a good question, I was wondering that as well. I just meant in general has he ever tripled, he does compete in slopestyle. I figured trips are a pretty basic indicator of progression, but so is adding an extra 360 in a dub cork in the pipe, also I have no idea what I'm talking about
theabortionatorWell see what happens.
TheHamburglarFor sure. Also, there were six hits in 2012 and only five this year, so the pipe is shorter I'm guessing, and was there a required straight air or something ever back then or am I imagining that? And do you think that pipes will have to get bigger in the future in order to have trips done on the reg?
skiznutswait a sec what’s up with this? got a source i could read up on?
GRaboneSnowI don't like the fact that you only ever see him when a relevant Pipe contest comes on. He used to do slope and movie parts way back when. Guess he's too busy jizzing on all his money and crashing in the Cardrona pipe to do content.
Seriously his run was good but the Japanese riders looked way cleaner. I'm sure they'll be better than Shaun in the next Olympics. I really can't see him getting any better than he already is.
Also fuck that stupid wide stance he rides with. He does that to get away with boot grabs n shit.
TheBagOTricksThis might be the most cancer thread I've ever seen. You guys bash Shaun for not being innovative, yet the only thing left for him to do to improve his run is a triple, and you all HATE triples. Makes sense.
Fyi he did try a few triples before Sochi and got rocked twice, I don't blame him for not trying them anymore.

MLBAfter a while you learn that just because you are professional athlete, that does not mean that your automatically a good person. I have no idea why people have such a hard time with that concept.
The-RodentDo you think Michael Jordan was buddies with everyone he played with? not a chance in hell. Or Tiger Woods? Tom Brady? Kobe? Lance Armstrong? /
jeppesolbergNot really what this thread is about, but do you american still consider Lance Armstrong to be a great athlete? Like, comparing him to Michael Jordan-great?
The-RodentThe OP barely says anything and I explained why he is seen as a dick because its part of being that crazy competitive so idk what the thread is about if that doesn't relate.
As far as lance armstrong goes I'm talking about ultra competitive athletes and how they interact with other people relating back to Shaun White and by the way lance won 7 tour de Frances in a sport where every top guy was doping he was a super competitive guy and was the best so thats why I included him.
jeppesolbergNah, I meant that my question wasnt really related to the thread itself, haha, my bad.
Aight, I can agree with that, competitive for sure, but not Michael Jordan-great, I feel you!
DeepskierWhat yall talking about, Shawn competes in skiing all the time, he just does it under the alias "Gus Kenworthy"
slush8He may enjoy them but he's not an asshole.

LeeLauHere's the complaint. Read it in the context that its SW's word against hers. But think to yourself, Would she make this shit up and have so much detail if this was pulled out of thin air?

theabortionatorLol, set the haterade down dawg. Sounds like you need to smoke a bowl, drink a beer, and maybe lay down for a nap.
BushwhackerNZHaha bro! You lads made my morning.
Fuck this guy aye, I feel like his contribution to snowboarding has been to encourage a bunch of fuckwits to head up the mountain in leather jackets. Only a fire crotch would pull that shit.
If you’re in position like his I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t focus some of that energy on not being such a slick ginger dick and helping the next generation come through - that’s what real progression is... Fuck it I just wanna see one of those Swedish freeski lads take Lindsay Vonn down and have some babies that turn into mad little shred units
GrandThingsPeople need to stop with the comparisons to MJ, Kobe and Tiger. Yes, Shaun has similar types of achievements but Action Sports are just such a different realm in that ALMOST (except Shaun) every cares more about the progression of the sport as opposed to personal gain/achievements. I think most people in this community/industry would be more excited to see some groundbreaking part/backcountry trick/whatever than the X Games. We simply dont care about competition the same way the NBA, PGA, etc. do. Personally, thats why I love skiing and skating.
Just look at Tony Hawk. Dude is an absolute legend and still revered by the skate community. Why? because he's a super good dude and actually cares about his sport. Even in the early THPS days, before he really really blew up he was fighting for fair contracts for the riders & an accurate representation of skating.
There's a reason Shaun is an outcast from his sport. Rightfully deserved imo.
GRaboneSnowIt's my opinion, chill the fuck out.

theabortionatorMost comp guys don't film video parts. Hell, a lot of the guys killing video parts in snowboarding, don't even do any contests. But bitch more about that.
I doubt he's even competing in the next olympics, so you'll have to find something new to complain about.
Dude got scored high for some bullshit like 10 years ago through some comps. This time he actually had a solid run, but you're still complaining.
You ever thought that in 2018 I'd actually be defending shaun white on the internet. Definitely not me. It's just that all the stupid kids finally became shaun white haters wayyy to late, and at a time where it's pretty much pointless. Take a time machine back to xgames 10-15 years ago if you want to hate shaun white, other wise lol dude chill.
TheBagOTricksYa'll hate the ones who are the fiercest competitors, yet the fiercest competitors get the headlines, headlines drive in more skiers/boarders, more skiers/boarders brings in more money to the industry, and more money keeps your 3XL outerwear/$800 park ski companies in business. I love slvsh, but some little kid with no skiing experience is never going to stumble onto it and find a new love for the sport. Seeing an Olympic athlete from his country on national news might, though. Hate him or not Shaun is helping the industry ALL OF YOU are apart of.
#endrant
BMBI created a stir on facebook by making the claim the Skiing does have a "Shaun White", and his name is Candide Thovex. This is only based on them being dominant in their sport. Had nothing to do with his personality, or sexual harassment lawsuit. If the OP actually clarified their post and didn't look like a kid writing it, then we'd actually have a good thread. Oh well
GRaboneSnowTWhat does Shaun do? Comes out of the woodwork to ride pipe. Where are the edits? Where is the Big Mountain? Hell, where is he shredding the park at Breck? No where to be found. Thats what I think pisses people off the most. He is a poor representation of Snowboarding whereas Candide is a very good representation of what a skiier is.
The-Rodent@ me next time. The sports are in the Olympics so wether you don't care about the competition the same way as you care about the NBA or anything else is a non factor because it is still a sport that involves international competiton as well as being internationally televised with an award given to the winner in front of millions of people who care. I don't think one guy trying to get a gold medal would agree with you that they don't care ( and if they do they are lying) it changes your life to win an X games or olympic gold medal . You saying that action sports are in a different realm because these other guys besides Shaun don't really care about the competition and they are just trying to put down a sick run or get out of there to film their new film part is absolutely stupid. And if you didn't realize from the start shaun has pushed the progression so idk what you're talking about there. Also if all the other riders are actually thinking that then no wonder he wins he's more mentally tough and knows what it takes to win just like any other sport.
And what I'm talking about is what goes down inside the head of a ultra competitor that is at the very top and dominating I'm not saying Shaun White is Michael Jordan or Tiger or Kobe or anyone but you cannot deny that there has to be a common thread in their psychology. Most people don't have it in them to finish when they know they are on the biggest stage possible and need to be perfect to win and go do it time after time. Shaun White has done that in a individual sport where you are going in an out of a giant ice pipe doing multiple flips and spins in a single trick and having to remain perfect to win which is arguably harder or comparable to any clutch basketball shot or any sport for that matter.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he is a good dude a saint or good for the overall sports health or whatever but he's incredibly good and I personally think the reason why is because he shows a different level of thinking and killer instinct similar to what you see in these legend athletes which is what makes them champions and so well renowned.
GrandThingsI think you're missing my argument. OBVIOUSLY the dudes who are competing in these events care about the competitions and are trying to win. Totally agree that Shaun has the same "killer instinct" and is the perfect embodiment of this hyper-competitive spirit. I'm not saying he's not talented nor trying to deflect how far he has pushed the sport. The shit he does and has been doing for years is absolutely on "legend" level.
What I AM saying is that this is not what skiing/snowboarding/action sports are about and that's why Shaun is such a polarizing figure. He approaches the sport from a purely competitive standpoint, which I think really really sucks. Just because there action-sports competitions exist, doesnt mean thats how these sports represent identify. Hell, the vast majority of the skateboarding community doesnt even want to be in the Olympics and there were similar discussion on this site before Sochi. For me, (and this is where we probably differ in opinion) skiing/snowboarding are more about the community, movies, edits, and culture. IMO these things appear to mean shit to Shaun White and thats where a lot of my hatred comes from. (On-top of the fact that he's a huge douchebag.)
Also....I fucking follow the NBA religiously so fuck outta here with that shit. I understood your argument, it was just a bad one.
morgan970Maybe ya just done fucked up and can't admit it
Saga.It is very possible that I am wrong but I think your lack of knowledge about the snowboard world is affecting your opinion. Yes he has never been the great ambassador to snowboarding that many would have hoped given his position. Which to me is also a bummer. But he is his own person and is going to make his own decisions based on his goals. Apparently one of them is not being a leader in the snowboard world.
His influence on snowboarding runs much deeper than just encouraging "a bunch of fuckwits" as you put it. If you look at the span of time that he has been dominant in snowboarding it hasn't been done by anyone else before and the majority of the tricks being thrown in the finals halfpipe competitions are ones Shaun was the first to step to learning.
As an athlete he has been very important to snowboarding. As a person, well that's a different discussion.
BushwhackerNZYeah fair call and cheers for the reply, I don’t know a lot about snowboarding and know even less about the technical aspects of it/the tricks and so that and the fuckwits remark I made was probably a bit flippant.
I do feel though, and this is just my opinion, that part of being a professional athlete on that scale is the interaction with the fans and the giving back to the sport etc - it’s like any job in that there’s more to it than just fulfilling your core function and to my mind if you’re not fulfilling those peripheral tasks then you can’t say you’re great at what you do - he’s an awesome snowboarder for sure and is pretty impressive from a solely athletic perspective , but people calling him a great athlete? I just don’t think he deserves that title and totally agree with you, he’s not a great ambassador for the sport
EmperorKuzcoShaun white is the goat fact
