So I’ve been using my Line Blends for about 5 years now, and while they’ve treated me well, I think I want a new pair of skis soon. I’ve gotten a better feel for what I really want in a ski, and while the Blends are great for learning the fundamentals, I definitely want something a little different.
I’m about 6’ tall and weigh 195 pounds. I live in the Midwest and take weekend excursions to (boring) local hills (Alpine Valley, Wilmot, etc.) where I normally just lap the park for most of the day. However, I also go out West for about a week every year, and during that time I ski mostly off-piste and only spend a bit of time in the park.
My level of skiing is advanced—I’m not hitting double blacks yet, but can charge down pretty much everything else. I’m not super great with tricks or anything though; I like jumps but really only do grabs and stuff, and have a slight fear of rails/boxes.
I’m looking for a twin-tip that has a lot of rocker so I can turn and maneuver easily, is playful and good at hitting natural features on the mountain, and can stably meet all my charging needs in any terrain. Obv it should float in pow so I’m looking at about the 106-108mm mark. It should also be able to handle the park and not be too heavy to swing, but nothing too specialized.
Skis I’m looking at:
-4frnt Devastator
-K2 Marksman
-Moment Meridian
-Atomic Backland 102
-On3p Kartel 106
-Armada ARV 106
-Line Sir Francis Bacon?
Any feedback or recommendations would be appreciated.
