Alaska ski trip

Hey guys, I'm coming to Alaska for a week to ski jump but unfortunately everyone is lame and doesn't want to go skiing anywhere. Is there anyone out there that is from Anchorage and wants to go to Alyeska or ski somewhere else? If not does anyone at least know a cheap way to get to Alyeska and back to Anchorage?

I've rented cars from ANC to Alyeska a few times. I've taken cabs twice. Neither were very expensive. I've also hitchhiked. That was cheaper but way more time-consuming.

Just rent a car for a day or two bro. Girdwood is only about an hour away from Anchorage. The drive has some good sights too. The hotel in Alyeska is killer if you get to stay. The tram is literally IN the hotel. Pretty sick place.

Agree with nroc13 on all counts. Turnagain Arm includes awesome views: standing waves, beluga, mountain goats, etc. Well worth the rental car cost, and even worth missing some ski time. The hotel is super pricey but worth it if you can spare the cash.

With all that said...watch the weather. Alyeska can be great and it can be brutal. Do everything you can to go, but don't be afraid to bail if it's raining, shock it does a lot.

A cab from Pio ( local watering hole ) to my old house was around $50 10.5 miles...... im guessing a cab 34 miles to Girdwood will not be cheap rent a car or find a ride.
