Slopestyle Announcing Is Shockingly Garbage

Mister "I can say 10 different generic things in a dramatic manner" is killing it. Cut the other guy off from calling a run to talk about mark mcmorris for the 1000 time. Get the fuck off the mic, Jesus.

This course looks incredible and appears to have such potential for creativity.....but it must suck.

I watched qualifying and am currently watching finals for men’s slope, and these dudes can’t put a full run together for their lives.

Not like it’s a conditions thing. You know the course is too difficult and features are too close together when announcers are claiming the 7 km/h wind is throwing them off....

Anyone know how the skiers are doing on the course? Has anyone seen skier’s twitters or seen where they’re talking about whether they like the course or not?

Kind of bummed on the event. And the announcers are pure ducking trash. Is the one dude Uncle E?

I agree that people could be riding the course a little harder. I wish there was some sort of session event after the comp. Course is sick, but I'm scared it isn't going to get even close to fully utilized. MAybe the skiers will save the day?

Things are slowly coming together a bit I guess. I hate to be so negative, because the course looks unbelievable and I appreciate that there are so many options. I don’t know what’s goin on, but something is just off.

I’m starting to wonder if maybe this course will suit the skiers better. I could see Henrik and AHall having a field day on this puppy, along with severa others.

I just kind of feel bad for the snowboarders. They’re better than this, but this event just isn’t coming together for them, for whatever reason.

Just the way they’re looking back up at features and showing visible frustration, they just look like they’re not digging it.

When I saw the jumps for the first time I was really concerned they were too close together and when the rails and jumps are so tightly packed it's hard for people to get down the course.... It was the same in the test event. You either go easy and let the athletes do crazy difficult tricks and achieve their full potential or you go hard and it's just about who can finish a run with the cleanest tricks....

I personally don't think its the course. Maybe they didnt get enough practice time. They just aren't gettin it done

I thought the snowboard commentating was garbage for XGames too, but this olympic stream has been brutal. I remember in qualies the one dude kept talking about reverts after someone would crash and revert... like it mattered? It was confusing to say the least.

Even in qualies when they were going on about speed checks as if that was horrible. Like some features and tricks require less speed, some features you come off with more speed. Jesus fuck.

Idk. Hoping skiers make better use of the course.

The course looks difficult. Like this is the pro equivalent of me trying to hit the hardest rails in the park. I'm not trying to spin in or out of a DFDFDF triple kink. I just want to do the whole thing without dying, maybe a 270 out if I'm actually still locked in and not just holding on at the end, but probably not.

Also I figured they'd derp on announcers. They should just get TWall in there for skiing. I feel like this always happens, where they get people who don't know the sport whatsoever to call it, aka #theswitch. Skateboarding will probably have them same thing, even though they have so much time to prepare and there's plenty of people who can call any trick the moment they see it. People are probably used to, like, figure skating or something, where any sort of speed check would kill your score.

You know a course isn’t normal when Kleveland can’t even do a complete run without a crash. That was the sketchiest comp i have seen in a very long time.

I still think the course is sick. I think it being the olympics got into peoples heads. People weren't hitting all of the rails but they were thowing down some pretty hard tricks.

The Brit Commentating is incredible, they had Jamie Nichols come into the booth after he went out in the qualifying. Jamie was saying that it's honestly one of the best courses he's ridden and said it was really well put together, but yeah, he says the wind was difficult.

I should have tuned into that. And shit, I forgot wind was mentioned at one point. Was wonderimg what was going on with the speed for the jumps.

Hoping the weather is proper for the skiers. Also hoping to see some different lines than the boarders took.

f you want good streaming use CBC streaming, it was craig mcmorris commentating and good quality ! plus its free... As for the course the jumps were super tight and a lot of riders had trouble with speed on the second jump however a few random dudes went big air dave on it so like I don't know... 112lb red gerard had too much speed half the time so Its hard to pinpoint what was off. I also found it weird that the mens downhill race which was set for the same time was postponed due to 50km/h winds yet they were reporting only slight winds in slope.... seems like the slopestyle course was protected from the wind due to its direction but like it had to have played a factor

The course is fine. The headwind and relatively flat gradient was what made it difficult. Very few riders fell on the rails

And yes the OBS commentary is garbage. I'm not even attempting to listen to it this year. Download a VPN like Hola and go on BBC iPlayer and listen to their commentary. Free to air and really good

Nah the other guy. The one that didnt add anything to peoples runs but regurgitated little soundbites he had heard. "Hes one of the bet flatspinners" "amplitude " "mark mcmorris almost died" "amplitude " "speedcheck" "amplitude"

He literally interupted craig calling a run in the middle of the run to talk about mark mcmorris crashing in the trees again/nothing was called for 3/4 of this guys run in the fucking finals. The fucking olympic finals, live.

I wish he was doing skiing too, maybe he would interupt the run to talk about his new car, his favorite pizza toppings, or this funny sound his dog makes when he tickles him.

That's about how relevant he was. You knoe the comic style "BOOM!" "POW!" things? That's how he was with amplitude. The dude could have been sliding down the dfd and hed shout out AMPLITUDE!!!!!

I guess maybe his accent sounded cool or he was banging sombody that runs NBC because I can't really see any other reason he was even in the booth.

Im amazed craig didnt just tell him to go fuck himself and quit mid comp.

I tried but it was technical difficulties. Yeah some dudes went gucci, a bunch barely cleared. Seems pretty random

I've noticed a trend throughout the last few years where skiing commentators generally focus on the technical aspects of the tricks, the context of the trick, athlete's accomplishments, etc and snowboard commentators simply sound like weed-tarded hypebois just trying to create as much stoke as possible, there's never much intellectual content to it at all (AMPLITUDE!). Plus they always put on that BroCal accent that's so fucking pathetic. /Endrant, I haven't seen any Olympics yet so Idk if that's what's going on. Love snowboarding, hate the announcing.

I wonder if more people want to announce snowboarding because it's "cooler" and only people who know things about skiing want to announce it.

I can't figure out who the one guy is announcing. I think the other one might be todd richards. Not sure who the shitty one is though.

Luke Van Valin is doing the NBC broadcast, not sure about the "stream" on nbc or any other network/country, but its different on every one.

I take it all back, you were right. The skiers are loving the course. The wind must have been so bad for the snowboarders that they couldn't put down runs.

Good to hear. Yeah the wind was a bit rough, especially in the womens.

I'm hoping they have enough time to figure out some unique lines. Also a little more of a break coming out of X. Also hoping they have good weather for the event.

Some of the grand prix were pretty disappointing on the course side. I would like to see more creative course like this.

It's been nothing but sunny here the past few weeks. A little windy tonight, but not enough to cancel the women's aerials events.
Stoked to go and watch the ladies shred it up tomorrow!
