X Games all the Double Corks...

Swimming is a great example to relate to skiing. If the race is Freestyle, there is actually all kinds of stuff you are allowed to do. People all swim the same way though, because it's the best combination of speed and endurance to swim that way. Now you got what you got.

We talked about this stuff on here a lot when PK and Jon started throwing doubles consistently. It was really exciting, but people progressed so fast it was obvious we were going to hit a limit. There was a real golden year in there where people like B-dog and Henrik could mix some really nice tricks that matched their style along with one or two highly technical big tricks and not miss out on a chance at the podium. Now that everyone can do 12's/14's well, there really isn't any way to separate people without a series of huge tricks.

The thing that will change the game up a bit would be an inovative course design. Get away from the rail, rail, rail, kicker, kicker, kicker.
At the X games, they give the riders a lot of options for rails, but almost all of them use the same one. It would be nice to see diversity, but as said in the post above, the riders find the best one and use it.
It would be interesting to see a slopestyle or big air event where the rider could not repeat their own tricks feature to feature and run to run (assuming a clean pass). That would at least change things up a bit. Im really tired of seeing the same tricks person to person. Im also sick of seeing the same run 3 times because they think they can run it a slight bit cleaner and it will somehow jumpt them up 10 points.

Yeah, nobody in Xgames has any raw talent. Also the style? Maybe you hate the comp runs, but most of them can throw down. In practice laps or in a fall run they'll dip get some super lofty slow spins in. Also people bitched about doubles, then triples. IMO triples made it so people can get super steezed out on dub corks. Unfortunately in a comp run you're going for your hardest trick.

It's all relative. Honestly, the air/rail awareness is crazy compared to what it was. I'm not saying nobody through stylish spins, but what people can throw for a similar trick, is generally way better the days. People spins on and off rails could be pretty ghetto but they were sick for the time. Same with some of the spins/grabs in spins.

As far as the rails, I though they did a great job this year of making the rail section more creative. A lot of people hit different options, hit multiple features in lines, side hit things etc. Some of the snowboarders were getting 6 hits.

When the 900 was the hardest trick, people could do a way better 360 or 540. Now people might be throwing trips, but they can throw a super clean 9 that looks as effortless as a 3 or 5 in the past.

Rails ruined skiing, the 1080 ruined skiing, dubs ruined skiing, trips ruined skiing, quads will ruin skiing, comps will ruin sking, vail will ruin skiing, skiing will ruin skiing, aerials will ruin skiing, trump will ruin skiing.

Everyone was kind of always doing the same damn thing. When 7's and 9's won comps, everyone was tossing 7s and 9s. When people sucked at skiing rails, everyone was slidin them sketchy, and maybe trying a 2 out.

Imagine if double corks were "forbidden" for one comp. I wonder how the imagination and style would come up...

Thats kind of interesting actually, restricting tricks would be a way to shake things up and almost force creativity although it will never happen most likely

True.. only one who is currently bringing something new to the competition part of the sport is harlaut. The rest are just meh...

I feel like speed for jumps is a strong motivator for rail selection. At least put the rails last to you're not just hitting every cannon or whatever to keep your speed up for the following jumps.

Trail at buttermilk is super flat at the top. Drops down a bit into the kast set if rails but then thats pretty close to jump 1.
