Sup NS, I graduate in November and wanted to give myself some motivation for my final year of school by giving myself a graduating present when I finish up. Looking at buying a set of pow sticks. I'm 17, 200lb's, 6,1" and ski in British Columbia. I was thinking about the ON3P Kartel 116's, K2 Marksman's, Armada 116 JJ. Wondering what options were out there as far as pow sticks go. As I'm not super into buying gear. Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.

Since you're built like a man. I would suggest the ON3P's.
190cm Nomad 125 is pretty fun. Another +1 for the bibbys tho, moments bases don’t like to hold wax as much as other skis but god damn the bibbys are a godsend.

- rips groomers surprisingly well
Out of these two its a toss up and mainly goes into what skiing you like to do.
The bibbys are definitely stiffer and thus charge a little harder and preform better in tracked snow. Think ON3P billy goats except the bibbys have tail rocker. They are awesome for charging down lines, jumping cliffs, and all the crazy shit like that but they can also be mellow if you ride them enough. On flatter surfaces and slower speeds, they arent pivoty really but you can really kick those tails out and slash your way through anything. They're fun man, blister loves them and so does the rest of the world. They kinda have the best of all worlds in a pow ski and can really charge the fuck out of a groomer on your way back to the lift too.
The Nomad 125s are this fully rockered ski that does surprisingly well everywhere considering its gearth and profile. The nomads shine in soft snow, whether that be a foot of fresh powder or just a groomer that isnt rock solid. They have full rocker as I mentioned before but the splay in the tips and tails isn't anything major so don't expect some spoon of a ski that only does a foot of powder. It doesn't charge through soft snow like other skis of its caliber, it enjoys surfing and slashing through the trees and can pivot on a dime in any situation. I mentioned before that you could really kick the tails out on the bibbys but on the Nomads here, there isn't stopping the pivot-ability on them. Instead of going straight for the tails, you can hit the tails, noses, or even the underfoot on these guys if you want to scrub any speed or just kick up snow. It has a super forgiving profile that can cater to any type of skier. I also mentioned that they can ride groomers too and I meant it. I know youre looking for a pow ski but it still boggles my mind that these guys can charge so hard on groomers and not loose any stability. Icelantic does some wizardry shit when they designed this ski so I'm not going to question any soul pacts they made with the devil but this is a ski you want if you just want to have fun. Im not going to sugar coat it too much, they do blow on super tracked up stuff which is where the bibby can kick its ass but if you're looking for a pow ski that will give you a good time no matter what then these are the way to go.I ride the 180cm Gypsy (same ski as the 125) and have enjoyed hundreds of days on them. They have become a beater ski of mine but that doesn't hold them back too much from becoming my ski of choice any day there isn't ice or chop.
Depends on your ski style....i would stay away from the k2 marksman, armada jj
Ive skied both the k116 and the bibbys... I think the bibbys had more camber and were very stable in all conditions but the K116 was motivating me to jump off everything but was extremely stable as well.
I don't ski switch in pow too much. I usually just do small cliffs and jibs but nothing too crazy. I really enjoy bombing steep open runs but not super confident with skiing fast in trees. The nomads sound sweet but might be a bit too jibby for my style of skiing. I'm feeling like the Kartel might be a happy medium between the charging aspects of the Bibby and Nomad. For skiing in Kicking Horse, what would the most appropriate ski?

Bibby or Kartel for sure then. Both are fun and jibby so I’d say pick up the one you can get the best deal for haha.

I would agree that either the k116 or the Bibby would be the best option...
Kartel 116- 191 cm = actually 191cm or 186cm = actually 186
I ride the 186cm Kartel 108 and the 116 and I'm 6'3 180lbs....i rode the Bibby 190cm but felt it was a little long for my taste if it ever got tight
The longer you go the more stable you'll be but you'll give up the turn in the tight trees...

I haven't skied on the nomad 125's, but i heavily disliked my 115's

What was up with the 115s? I demo’d then for a day and loved them. Good flex, nice float, and were capable on groomers. If you got a 181 or 191 I’ll take em off your hands no problem.

i think it was a little more me than the ski, i loved the playfulness and float of the ski, but other than that i just dont think the shape is for me. Compared to other skis i didn't feel like i could charge the nomads how i wanted. If i got myself another icelantic ski id go for the pioneer, loss of playfulness but after trying my friends 109 i like how much more chargy it is.
Sorry, sold the skis two weeks ago to buy some intuitions.

I put Rossi fks 140 before the dual wtr and i loved them however they do chip a ton after minimal use.
The Look/Ross FKS or Pivot 14/18 would be a good choice or the Attack2 13 or Attack2 16
I really like the 186 length for the ski....it seems short but when you have the backbone behind the ski you don't feel like you're on a short ski
I also forgot to mention that Look/Ross with the turntable heel is a PITA to get into in deep snow and since this is your exclusive deep day ski would get the attack2 16 instead
186 black ops with pivot 14’s or 18’s depending on what din you ski at. they like to go fast, are stable as hell and don’t mind being thrown around in the tight spots or for spins and flips. They are my favourite pow skis I have owned and they are black which is dope af.

I'm surprised more people don't do that. When I've read long and bloated articles for both, a concise description is a nice change. The closest you've probably been to a woman is at a your weekly girl Scout Jamboree.

Alfonso318When I measured my 190 Bibbys it was short of 190 on a tip to tail pull...
Did you follow the contour of the ski? I assume not...
Ski length defined by Moment and by almost all brands is true material length of the base material prior to pressing the ski.
The base material on a 190 Bibby is 190cm before it goes into the press.
If you take a straight pull from tip to tail of a finished ski not taking into consideration camber, rocker and curvature of the tip and tail then yes, you will get a smaller number than 190cm...but that’s not how you measure skis...
