.Fryby the end of our life-times most cool citys will be overrun with joebags
TheDoughAbideslol fuck off Denver yuppie
eheathThe tourists stay in Summit county, everyone driving up is from Denver....
mistaNastyI actually live in vail for school during the winter
LonelyI bet you're a type 1 skier
LonelyI bet you're a type 1 skier
mistaNastyIt isn’t the tourists it’s all the people moving here from other states and they’re all trash and ruin the bumps
sendotologistI live in Colorado and some of the best skiers I've met here are Ice Coasters, especially those from Northern New England like Mainers. On the other hand, I know plenty of people who are born and raised in Colorado and suck at skiing, even people who go semi-regularly. I've even met people who are born and raised from a quality ski town here and still are mega gaped out. Are you saying you'd rather have a bunch of native gapers than people who come here because they love the state, the culture, and the skiing and contribute to making this a better place?
If you hate the crowds and traffic here so much, stop complaining and do something about it. Move to the Western Slope or get into backcountry or start going to a non-Vail-owned ski area. Do literally anything that isn't just wallowing in self-pity and complaining that the state you claim to love so much is thriving. Traffic sucks man, but you know what sucks more? Having an economy in the shitter and no jobs. That'll surely clear out the traffic, but you'll find that you can't eat the scenery.
mistaNastyI like that the economy is booming here but I just feel like the state isn’t making a big enough effort to accommodate for the growing population.
Unfortunately I can’t just move because of the family business here
and I do have some homies from the ice coast that are much better skiers than my Denver friends, and those people are numbered who are good skiers and I’m seeing runs that used to be intense mogul trails groomed out for beginners and that’s just sad. :(
sendotologistDefinitely sympathetic to it being hard to move. I've been living in ski towns the last few winters but like you I'm on the Front Range this winter because of work/family. Life is stressful and it's harder to go skiing when you live down here. My 20-30 minute drive from door to lift is now between 3-4 times that depending on traffic. I'm on pace to only ski like 1/3 as much as my average from the last few seasons. I'm trying to make the best of it though. I'm a total hypocrite for telling you to stop complaining because I know I do too sometimes- but I'll still stand by it being counterproductive.
And you can blame goddamn TABOR for our lack of infrastructure improvement. Colorado has so much money coming through it right now but we can't use much of it to improve our state. Shit sucks.
Out of curiosity, what mountain do you ski that's getting so fucked? Have you considered anywhere else?
mistaNastyRight now I have the RMS pass and I’ve been skiing winter park to avoid the tunnel traffic but it’s still crazy on Floyd hill and everyone goes sooo slow on berthoud pass. At this point I’m considering Eldora just because I don’t have to hit any of the traffic the trade off is lack of decent terrain lmao
sendotologistEldora sucks so much cock. Very limited good terrain and super shitty rules like no dogs anywhere. Also, Boulder Canyon can be I-70 levels of horrific on a powder day and the parking lot at Eldora can get filled to capacity. I would only ski Eldora regularly if I lived in Ned or somewhere on 119 or 72.
I'm skiing Loveland exclusively this year and I think I made a good choice. Driving 70 isn't fun but at least I don't have to deal with the Tunnel or Berthoud Pass. The skiing at Loveland is also pretty fantastic. Consider it in the future if you haven't spent a season there already. I do love skiing Jane but Berthoud is just so prone to closure during bad conditions due to idiots causing car wrecks and avalanche conditions.
sendotologistAnd you can blame goddamn TABOR for our lack of infrastructure improvement. Colorado has so much money coming through it right now but we can't use much of it to improve our state. Shit sucks.
mistaNastyYeah I’ll look into getting a 4 pack or something next season for when the pass is extra terrible
Do you have to pay for the cat skiing there? I know the cat at some places is free
And sometimes I’ll just throw on my snow shoes and do some back country if theres no new snow
TheDoughAbidesGood ol conservatism at work!
japanadaHavnt less people been moving to Colorado in the past few years? Along with more people leaving the state?
eheathDenver is one of the fasted growing cities in the country, if I'm not mistaken. Legal weed really changed peoples outlook on Denver and tons of people decided "hey, im looking at jobs in denver, chicago and *insert city* which one should i choose? Wait weed is legal in CO, lets go there!"
Coloradoskier03Tourists are good and bad. They suck ass and ski the frontside while everyone else thinks they're the shit goes on the backside. If you ski in jeans, or have your snowpants tucked into your boots gtfo unless your buying stuff from vail. Then, they make our passes 'cheaper' which is bs but whatever. Colorado should definitely put a train on 70 to clear out all the jerries that flip their cars
IsitWinterYet17Also, why is Uber so damn cheap? Like it's really cheap there compared to elsewhere I've been.
