Arrite ive decided to start telemarking, can someone approximate how much decent boots and bindings will cost to buy? And i heard theres different sizes in bindings... iz that true? Anyone got some stuff in a 10ish that they wanna dump?

buy crispo boots and linken binding(www.linken.com)(the price is around 300$ for the bindings) , thats the only thing i can help you with

yeah, tele is sweet. i was out west last season (im from the midwest, so the real west is 'out' for me) and some kid on tele twintips was backflipping and doin 5s and stuff, it was sick. one of his backflips was over like a 60'er 2. it was huge

the stuffs expensive although with bindings there about 300 (dont bother whith release) boots 400-500 skis are about 600-1000

if your a good skier, it took me two runs, and by the end of the day i was doing only black runs, and i was on shitty equipment. (but i was getting tips from a guy who rips) It's fun to try. and equipment is expensive becuase there are like only 2 binding companies, and like 2 boot companies. Def worth a try though!

its not hard to learn the turn at all, and its alot of fun. For a starter setup u can usually find demoed skis and bindings from places like telemarkski.com, try to get the stiffest boots that u can, if u have any more questions pm me or look on telemarktips.com, a decent forum kinda thing

Okay those guys don't know what they're talking about. I love how people just say stuff without having a clue. Here's what to get: Scarpa T1's or T-Races or any boot that is comparable. The only other boot companies out there are Garmont and Crispi (not Crispo). And there are more than 2 binding companies. There are more tele binding companies than alpine binding companies. Get the G3 Targas (not the T/9's) with the stiffest cartridge (green in color). Or you can get the Black Diamond O2's - I'm picking up a pair in Reno next week. Black Diamond is the only company that makes bindings in separate sizes. You can't go wrong with the G3's (about 80% of the skiers out there use these). You can also try the plate bindings - Bomber Bishops, Linkens, or Hammerheads. But I think they're pretty gay. Good luck.

sorry..forgot to mention cost. Boots are about $300-400 and bindings are about $130-$180. This shit is expensive.

any ski will work you just have to mount it up. the guy a few above me knows what hes talking about, but personally i would go with a scarpa T2. its less stiff so skinning up stuff is a little less of a bitch, but its still stiff enough (for a guy my size) to charge in. I havent tried the G3, but the 7tm is my current weapon of choice, and ive heard that hammerheads are good until you smash them, which a couple buddies have done

If you want to jib on them, get a plate binding. The cables tend to snap somewhat easily. I mounted a pair of seth pistols for tele. It is sick. I am also a fan of the scarpa t1 boots. They are just right for jibbage.

The absolute best boot to get is THE ONE THAT FITS YOUR FOOT. Saying a particular boot is pointless because everyone fits into boots differently. But if you do decide on Scarpa, I'd go T1 rather than T2, you'll want the extra support for when you get aggresive with it.

Shit's expensive, go to www.bdel.com to get an idea of retail prices...

I just started this season, and I'm still trying to make up my mind about it, it takes some effort to get good at.

If i'm not mistaken the hippy stixs are the exact same ski as the seth pistols, but cheaper becuase they don't come with the costom art done by seth's friend.

DO NOT get the T2's. They are too soft and mind as well go with leather boots if you're going to get T2's. T1's or stiffer. Cable bindings don't break when you jib like someone above said. Most likely the person riding them had the preload way to high and kept bottoming the springs out. Only pussies use plate bindings.

The Hippy Stinx are a good ski. I really only like them for their inserts though. You should wait and get the fat Karhus next year. They're about 110mm at the waist and probably come out of a Line mold. By the way, REI is having a sell on tele gear I hear.

Fuck tele is so cool but it's one more thing, and i doubt i could afford it. i hope it gets more popular though.

Ps is tele harder on your knees cuz i think if it's easier on your knees it would be a good thing for me to do as an old withered man. It looks hard on the knees though.

billybomba or whatever up there, plate bindings are a very necessary innovation and are not gay. My new bombers completely own any other binding i've ridden, and have a three year warranty. they have more lateral stiffness, but flex very similarly to cables. and they hold the ski close to your foot in the air which is key. Have you ever actually ridden plate bindings, in particular bombers? and how much jibbing experience do u have?

Although you want a stiff boot, you can usually find mid-stiff boots on ebay from 100-200 bucks used.

It depends on how much money you plan on spending on bindings, but if you have alot, go for the bishops. those run 320 and last for at least 3 years of hard use. figure thats a $106.3 a year. if you dont have that kinda money right now, all G3 bindings are all Black Dimond bindings would be good for you.

As far as skis go, for a beginner who likes to turn, you want em softer. for instance, my jib skis and dickin around skis are mike nicks. soft as hell. but fun. when you feel like chargin hard and really workin it, you need a insanly stiff ski. the G3 skis are pretty much as stiff as you can get.

i am totally into the whole tele stuff. i got my skis from a testival sold out, with ski, binding and boots i paid 500 $, but new race boots (garmont g3 i think) and a new binding (7tms), just the skis have been used (karhu jak 180). i dunno if these bindings will work well in the park because if have just ridden them twice.

maybe you get some rental stuff, than you can see if teleing is something for you and you can buy some real stuff the next time.
