Recommend me a ski

how do you ski? Example - I like skiing trees, fast and i need a ski that can pivot and turn on a dime, however, the ski needs to be heavier and stiff in order to bust through crud and be stable on cliffs.

Where do you usually mount your skis?
Are you going to be putting these through the ringer for 100+ day seasons or are you the weekend warrior?

How do I ski: fast and with big airs. Tight trees.

Where: mostly mt Seymour, one of the local hills near Vancouver; Big dumps of heavy snow. I also usually do some trips around BC every year; places like Revelstoke, big white, whistler, Sun peaks.

How long: 17 years I think

What other skis I've ridden:
Line invaders: fun on groomer days and in the park. Shit in the pow, likely due to center mount.

Atomic thugs: massive skis 120mm underfoot and 191cm long. No rocker tip or tail, mounted 5cm back from center. Theses are a dream in deep snow, but feel like to much ski to swing around in anything less than 30cms. I wish it was easier to ride powder switch in them.

Line afterbangs: see invaders

Solomon Shogun: bought a very beat up pair for 50$. The overall demsions are what I'm looking for, but this pair is worn the fuck out. I liked that at this width they still felt allright in the park, but were still good in powder. Again, they didn't handle switch pow very well.

Rossignol b2 bandit: was a long time ago, but overall I remember I liked these skis. They couldn't handle pow over 20cms very well though.

K2 black magic: going way back now. Ancient skis back when being "shaped" was a thing. I was amazed at being able to carve. Once went down west cirque at whistler in a complete white out after smoking a blunt with 30cms of fresh with these skis. It was a struggle.

Some old ass Rossignol straight skis: my very first pair, used from my freinds brother. All I remember is sucking ass at skiing and having fun with my freinds.

I don't ski 100 day seasons but I prolly hit 50 last year. Im a weekend and weeknight warrior.

Ok sweet, thanks for the extra info. Based on what you said, you're looking for a rockered tip and tail ski for a little float but also for some switch riding and not getting snagged on anything. Something with a more forward mount would seem more fitting based on your history with skis mounted 0-5cm from true center and something with a bit of taper would help out with that swing weight a bit. Im gonna drop a couple of skis below and leave you to your own devices to see which seems more fitting. All have a mid/stiff flex for mobbing those groomers but also for stability on bigger jumps. I tried to pick out some skis with camber underfoot as well for some extra edge hold but maybe the devs will make an appearance. As well, most of these are probably going to be smaller company skis just because I like the personal touches the smaller co's put into their product over machining everything haha. Good luck bud!

Those are some solid options, but don't forget the Jskis Masterbaster 181/187cm. 96mm underfoot.

Ive been on the line supernatural and really like it though it is 115 mm underfoot. Skis a lot like a park ski and its metal core so it charges. Solid twin tip and good turns on hardback. The atomic automatic is also a pretty sweet all around ski, but again, its a hair fat at 109. Other than that, I've heard you can't go wrong with black crows, but I can't speak on that personally.

i haven't been skiing them enough to really say, but my limited experience on my new K2 Marksman has me optimistic about them being the perfect ski.

Although my boner for kartels was double black diamonds, I ended up getting the salomon rocker2 100s cause they seemed like they would fit the bill and I got a good price locally on a lightly used pair. Got them remounted 2.5cm back from center. Have skied one day so far and they were awesome. Better switch performance than afterbangs (possibly due to rocker?) Felt great on jumps. Very light weight ski. Haven't skied any pow, didn't hit any rails, but on first impression I am stoked.

I mean it seems like youre trying to find a cheaper ski so anything older will fil that gap. but i would suggest just going for last years lineup of any model. most newer park skis will have the camber profile of the rocker 2 but the materials and construction are arguably getting better each year, so your investment will last you a few years. I tend to spend a lot of money once every 4 years instead of get a shitty pair every 1 or 2 years.

with that said go for a newer ski lines in the ON3P kartels, or Armada ARVs, faction candides. they all have a 95-105-115 in their lineups and based on what youre saying i would go for a 105ish ski from one of the lines you honestly cannot go wrong. finally, since youre saying park isnt a primary factor, i would very seriously suggest not centermounting the skis, everyone on this website will tell you otherwise it seems. you give up so much versatility and carving ability with a center mount. I have my ARV 96 at -4cm and the skis fucking rip, i moved them back from -1.5cm and its day and night, you dont really notice the skis looking weirdly off center especially at a 184 length like mine. whatever you do stay between or close to the recommended lines you will not regret it.
