Simple but Could use suggestions

What beanies are decent to wear under a brain bucket? Seems simple and it is but need some ideas

I had this issue yesterday, went for one of the arcteryx toques because they have a pretty low profile with pretty much no excess so no pressure areas etc, bit on the pricier side for a beanie but figured I’m gonna be wearing it every day so. Also its a merino blend so you’re not gonna need to wash it as much

I just wear a carhartt beanie under a smith maze, sometimes it gets to warm and bunched u tho ur probably right looking for somthin thinner

i mean for safty.... you shouldnt really do that. just get a merino baliclava and call it good.

Yeah agreed. For a snugly fit helmet that is positioned properly, you can't have hats under it. My recommendation would be either a skull cap, an under armour tactical hood (what I use. Great for all skiing except spring), or a balaclava. If you really want a beanie to cover your helmet hair, just carry it in your pocket and throw it on when you take your helmet off.

correct me if I’m wrong but I’d say a well fitted beanie (i.e no movement wth the helmet on top) is going to do the same job as a liner? The only things they provide is warmth and comfort, and the difference in impact dissipation is going to be negligible. Also I just got a couple of free Saga og beanies with some pants I ordered and they do a pretty good job too

can anyone provide why you shouldn't wear a beanie under a helmet? very curious. I've hit my head a few times back in the day and the beanie didn't seem to cause any issues.

If it's thin it probably won't matter. Shit it will probably provide more cushion. When I say don't wear a beanie I'm referring to one's that would make your helmet sit higher than acceptable. High enough so the helmet doesn't line up where it should on your skull. That would cause a problem.

speaking as an engineer helmets go through extensive testing. It likely wouldn't be tested with consideration of some kid wearing a beanie. companies spend tons of money on modeling and testing them to keep you safe, you wouldn't put a couch cushion over your airbag in your car because it would provide more cushion. same idea.
