chris.goodhuewell glidecam makes different models for different weights, look on their website and see what the tolerances are and compare that with how much your lens + camera + mic? weighs....youll have to do the same thing if you get a gimbal....
lelandbroadhurstYea I know they do.... unfortunately my old cam setup got stolen so I only had enough saved up for this plus 2 kit lenses... the 16-50 pz and 56-210 oss, and unfortunately unless I can find a way to adapt a shotgun mic onto it, there’s no mic input so looks like edits will most likely have no sound :(
ski.the.eastit sucks that the A6000 doesn't have an input but you aren't outta luck, sony makes this: https://www.sony.com/electronics/handycam-camcorders-microphones-speakers/ecm-xyst1m and there are similar cheaper options: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-ECMGZ1M-Zoom-Microphone-Black/dp/B00HPM0826/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1480617476&sr=1-2&keywords=a6000+microphone
and back when I used to use a glidecam with an A7S I used a manfrotto quick release plate, and mounted velcro underneath the top glidecam plate and attached groups of the heaviest washers I get at the hardware store depending on what lens I had mounted. The quick release plate is key so you don't have to rebalance every damn time, so the camera is always in the exact same spot. The glued together washers were key to add more weight to the whole rig so the top and bottom are even. More weight = steadier
lelandbroadhurstDang, thanks for the advice man that’s gonna help a lot, and I already have a regular quick release plate from my tripod head, could I just use that or do I need to get the whole system? Also that stereo mic looks pretty nice, only thing I’d be worried with that is that it could attract a lot of extra wind noise since I don’t see a way to throw a deadcat on there
ski.the.eastwhat type of tripod head/plate do you have?
and I wouldn't worry because you can find a compatible deadcat for pretty much any microphone, including the two I linked you
lelandbroadhurstgot an andoer fluid head, I love it, it was 20 bucks and is super smooht and all metal. heres a link: https://www.amazon.com/Andoer-Tripod-Monopod-Release-Manfrotto/dp/B00P22ORAK/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1516843630&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=andoer+fluid+head&psc=1
