This, Bohemia is really the best you can get in the Midwest for technical, steep terrain. I think the skiable vert is only around 870 ish but it makes up for it.
Midwest skiing is really something special though - I live on the east coast now & even though I’m skiing Hunter, Carithina & other bigger, more impressive offerings I still look forward to going home to ski. No other region in the country has consistent night skiing, the laps are so quick that you get to know your local ski area like the back of your hand & the community is so tight knit.
As OP stated above - you do ski in some pretty fucking gnarly conditions as a result & I feel as if it has improved my overall appreciation for skiing. You appreciate what you have & have a motherfuckin blast nukin around a hill that’s skiable vert falls below 400’
