Just caught a couple aerials runs on tv and was hoping a few people on here are knowledgeable enough to answer a couple questions

What are the skis like? They're short obv but what are the other specs like? Stiff im sure...how stiff?

Bindings I imagine are just good regular ones? But what kind of DINs are these lunatics rocking?

I would shit myself if my ski came off on one of those jumps. Idk, the height to distance ratio is fucking weird. Too much pop for my liking.

There's a video from back in the day of JP and his crew hitting an aerial jump doing mute 3's and all sorts of tricks... Couldn't find it on YouTube though

cant tell if you are trolling or you are just dumb...aerials skis exist, they are very stiff, directional, like 70mm underfoot, straight, and around 170cm.

no, just no. please stop. some mogul skis are actually very soft (see, rossignol moguls in like 2006 after they switched to the rounded tip). aerials skis are definitely just designed to whatever spec aerialists are used to, and their sponsor just slaps a graphic on them. for younger aerials athletes, they probably just ski on whatever stiff short skis are kicking around (yes, potentially mogul skis) but they are usually picked up by the us aerial development team early on and then they would switch to something aerial specific that is not terribly easy to buy by average people because people just dont want that shit

Not sure how nobody has mentioned JOSS. I'd count this, at least as worthy of discussion. Probably the closest for freestyle pros and aerials.

70 degrees at the lip. Deck is like 20', and they're about 65' off the spot they'll land at the peak of their air.

Fucking nutty. I'd like to see a shifty 180 on the triple kicker.

Didn't the big jump get seshed? I am trying to find a clip... but I recall a massive step down at JOSS one year. It was such a lippy kicker, dudes were just falling out of the sky into such a steep landing. I remember thinking that it was one of the most intimidating jumps I'd ever seen, at the time.

This was just one of several features from the year. The other standard jumps got seshed a ton more. Actually took me a little while to find anything with these kickers as all the shots I was finding were big jumps.

hard to keep track of all the big ass features they had at different JOSSes, but this one came to mind from what you said. big mean jump

Yup, that is the one. As I said, dudes were falling out of the ski. The landing was like a 100 degree angle.
