Binding completely ripped off ski.

Hasn’t happened to me personally, but two days ago I managed to break the metal pivoting plate on my 14s right in half :/

Also I believe as long as there’s not too much damage to the ski you can just fill the holes with epoxy, let it cure solid, and re-drill holes and re-mount your heelpiece.

yeah you can do this but your binding is gonna come out again in like 2 minutes. take it to a shop and they can put helicoils in

Hm I did it to my ski a few days ago and it held up fine with multiple flips to flat, not sure about long term tho it was just a quick fix. Helicoils are pretty easy to install too I just didn’t have any the right size

It could be that the core of your ski is molding as well if they’re older and can’t hold as well. The shop should be able to know and help you out.

As posted above, if your skis have missing pieces of edge, core shots or gnarly topsheet chipping, your core may be softening. If your core starts to rot, the holes in which your bindings are screwed into simply can't hold them in when pressure is applied. Best way to prevent this is to dry your skis after you used them and filling in missing edge with some epoxy or something. Joss blew his knee because of a heel piece coming out last spring so be careful out there

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more. The amount of force on a few small screws when a 180 lb skier crashes hard is huge.

Hilarious story, I let a dude ride my skis who has only skied four times and it was pretty icy. He was absolutely hauling ass and blasted some dude who was standing in the middle of a narrow cat track around a blind corner. Anyway, heel piece ripped out of the ski. Almost identical issue to OP. Skis are in good shape and shouldnt be soft or rotten and heel piece is fine. I have had this problem on a different pair of skis before and filled the holes with JBWeld and it actually worked, but Im looking for a better solution. Id prefer not going to a shop because I want them fixed really soon and knowing how to do things myself makes my dick bigger.

Happened to me last year. Also a pivot 14 heel. In a nomad 105. Harsh landing went over the handlebars. Helicoils seemed to do the trick, just retired the ski due to edge cracks but I got another 60-70 days on that ski after it was fixed.
