Please help me understand the difference between fakie and switch? Is it if your entering a trick backward its switch and if you enter normal and exit backward its fakie? Or is there no fakie in skiing ?? I really have no fucken clue

Your right it doesn't really matter but I used to ride bmx and this is why I am interested . I guess skiing just grabbed all its definitions from a few different sports.

switch is your opposite stance and fakie is your regular stance going backwards. since skiing is asymmetrical there is no opposite stance and there is only fakie. bladers use switch for an unnatural grind since thats the only time youre moving sideways and can be in an opposite stance.

imo switch is passable on a snowboard, especially on a park board mounted with the same angles on the bindings. you cant move your feet around on the board to differentiate between fakie and switch so its like whatever. snowboarders messed around with some grind names though. i have no idea how doing a 5050 and lifting your tail off the rail is not a nosegrind on a snowboard

as someone mentioned before 'switch' and 'fakie' originate from skateboarding conventions. Doing an ollie from your irregular stance is referred to as 'switch.' Doing a NOLLIE from your irregular stance is referred to as 'fakie.' In rollerblading, you can't "nollie." I guess that's maybe up for debate but all you have is the blades on your feet. you just jump, your not popping off a nose or a tail... Since in skiing we have a nose and tail and we can in fact "nollie," it would be technically correct to refer to tricks done backwards as switch, unless, you popped off your tails going backwards, and in that case it would be fakie. Case closed.

Oh they are the same thing, just people can't call one thing more than one name now a days. Basically OP wants sex to be called sex and not fucking, no making love, or anything; only one name Sex.
Lol... Cab is a fakie f/s spin on a snowboard,skateboard ect... Cab doesn't exist on skis nor does Switch as you don't actually have a "natural stance" on skis that you prefer facing.. like in surfing, skateboarding or snowboarding you are either regular footed or goofy footed.. Fakie is the right terminology for skis.. Glen Plake wrote letter to freeskier magazine about this in 2000... he said exactly what I said above.. skiers are just posers that basically copy other sports tricks and call them there own.. the only original thing skiing gave to modern action sports (not talking freestyle 60's 70's 80's day's ) im talking 2000's + was hand drags.. and lazy boy spins.. to my knowlege Chris Turpin was the first person to start this fad.. Chris Turpin used to be a pro rollerblader and got sponsored for skiing in less than 3 months of first getting on skis because of his rollerblade background.
