Skis for east coast

From the sounds of it you're not really skiing Park so I'd recommend more directional, non twin tip skis as they will do better on the harder snow and on groomers. I'd stay around the same width as your current skis so it's a good compromise for groomers and tree skiing. All these skis would have significantly better edge hold on Hardpack/ice than your current skis.

From the same company as your current skis but more geared towards all mountain/groomers would be the Armada Victa line which would have versions in 83mm wide or 87mm wide with the 87 Ti adding metal for a stiffer more stable ski. The 87 Ti in 163cm would be the one in their line I'd recommend. Volkl has a great all mountain ski called the Yumi that just got upgraded with the addition of metal this year that would be good for you in the 161cm size.
My personal favourite/the reference standard the last 3 years since they came out is the Head Joy series for women. They have a bunch of models in different widths but the one I'd recommend for a great one ski/kill it in all conditions for you would be the 85mm wide Total Joy model in the 163cm size. It has a deep sidecut so turns are super quick and it has a big front tip for flying over afternoon crud and floating in the trees. Amazing on hard snow or soft and all speeds. Asogear.com even has them on for $559.99 US with free shipping and that includes the matching bindings.

Do some googling on these skis and Demo them if you have the chance to see for yourself if you like them. Cheers

I went through a number of different skis back east and found the J All Play was hands down the best. It is a pretty playful ski, but I would charge icy groomer runs on it all day, and was comfortable on it with the few "powder" days we got. It very quickly became my go-to for in the park and all over the hill.
Though I agree that looking into a more directional ski may be a better route, just depends on your preference. It's definitely worth it to hit up demo days whenever possible. Good luck!!

I was thinking maybe a directional twin, just because I'm not used to skiing on a fully directional ski. I hardly ever do anything in the park (not a huge daredevil in that sense :D) but occasionally will slide straight down a box or do silly little things like that if I'm with friends who like to go in the park.

I really like the Volkl Yumi, wondering if an older model would suffice? Found a good deal on a pair of 2016 demos that are in good condition.

Any opinions on Blizzard Cheyennes (looking at a 2015 pair), or Nordica Belle 84s (looking at a 2017 pair). Powder7 is having a good demo sale right now, and given my current situation I'm not quite in a position to pay full retail for a whole new setup....maybe some day, for now I'll keep dreaming and keep riding used setups.

Your current skis are directional, they just have a turned up tail compared to all these skis although the Yumi tail is partially turned up.
The Cheyenne skis are a little less advanced for your ability and are more geared towards beginner/intermediate skiers. The Nordica Belle is a very good ski but has a little more bias for groomers so it would not be as fun as the Yumi when you go off trail and you need to be more "on" the Belle for them to work best. Think the Yumi is the best option by far in this group as it kills groomers, would be fun in the trees and it's easy to ski. Should be a nice upgrade to your current skis especially on the harder snow and you could totally take them into the park if you're just going forward.

That being said, when is the last time you got a full tune(stone grind/edges sharpened/hot wax etc) on those Armada ARW skis? The new Armada ARW 86 would be the current replacement for yours but it now has tip/tail rocker and has a much softer flex than yours so will not have the edge hold yours will on harder snow. When you complained on poor grip that made sense until I did more searching on your existing skis. Thinking a tune should make them lots better on edge grip. They still won't be as good as the Yumi skis as far as grip or turning ease/quickness but it should improve them greatly and add a fantastic park/back-up/rock ski in the quiver.

I had a basic end of season tune up done last year, but nothing yet this season, I was actually thinking they felt like they at least needed a wax, and I'm sure they could use to be sharpened, and I honestly don't think I've ever had them stone grined so I'll look into that!

Your skis could be “base high” (base is higher in level than the edges) which you wouldn’t notice as much in softer snow but will cause issues with edge grip on harder snow. Ski feels very surfy/wandering when they are really base high and a stone grind will flatten them as well as give them structure for better glide. Get a universal cross hatch or broken linear structure stone grind, set base levels to 1 degree and sides edges to 1 degree (Armada factory settings) and then hot wax. You could try a 2 degree side edge angle for more bite into harder snow if the 1 is not enough later.

The tune up will bring them back to “factory new” and will greatly improve your skis for about $50.
