You can't be serious with this line of thought, can you?

Facebook is a social media site, their whole business model is built off of user-engagement.

It's clear that their research has shown that there is less user-engagement when there are pages or people that post something that falls outside of a user's algorithmically-determined commenting habits.

It has nothing to do with the MSM or news. It's entirely irrelevant to the matter. In fact, if you actually had read the PR you'd have noticed it said businesses, brands, and media, not just media.

FB tried to adopt some of the popular aspects of Twitter, namely posts from pages people like/care about, and it backfired. Now they're returning to a more original model that focuses on personal friends and family in an attempt to increase levels of user-engagement.

Funny you mention business model because they did this for the good of their users, not their profits. Their stock dropped like 4% when they announced it. Just google it lol

Except you evidently don't have a lot of experience in companies PR and how the market reacts. 4% was a knee-jerk reaction, it wasn't anything fundamental because there isn't enough information on how it will change the company.

FB gauges their success on user-engagement figures (including time spent on FB), which as I stated, was the rational behind the change. They're hoping this change will increase these figures and likely increase revenues derived from it.

That being said, the market has zero clue on how to interpret these changes because it was announced during their quiet period, or the period between the end of their quarter and the earnings release. Everyone is waiting on clarity on how this will actually affect the business as a whole and how the company may or may not change their guidance.

If you have access to a Bloomberg terminal or anything similar, go look at any recent sell side report. Everyone is saying wait and see.

It's not for the good of the users or their profits. They're still managing the fallout from spreading Russian-made ads/posts/pages. The reason stock fell was because investors are concerned that their ads will get less exposure.

The media is the best it's ever been. Whether that be social media, news media, whatever, the dissemination of knowledge and factual information is the best it has ever been. It's miraculous how much the internet has already shifted power away from arbiters of ideology.

Post modernism sucks? Not jailing gay people sucks? Women voting sucks? Labotomies no longer being performed sucks? Laws preventing segregation and discrimination suck?

Your media statement is complete bullshit. To say media is the best it’s ever been is complete garbage just because it agrees with your political views. The News is completely biased whether you watch CNN or FOX and if you can’t acknowledge that you are a complete idiot. For example, Jake Tapper kicking Stephen miller off his show because he didn’t like what he was saying. This just shows how American is going to SHIT. The country is divided the left sucks, the right sucks, and no one will listen to each other’s political standing without shutting them down calling names with no evidence except for saying they are wrong. The only SOLUTION is we have to have a civil discussion talking about politics. I’m personally not a fan of trump the comment above shows how he is fairly uneducated on global warming, but I also dislike Hillary Clinton.

Are you serious? They would not do that on purpose lol. #1, almost no one at FB wanted Trump to win. #2, that would be such an irresponsible choice for the corporation
