Mt. Hood Questions

Alright so my friend and I are looking into finally driving to Mt. Hood next summer for like 3 weeks starting in the middle of June. We will both be 18 by then and it will be the summer after we graduate high school. It's all still pretty speculative, but I did have a couple of questions about the trip.

1. Ik it's still pretty early in the season but how is the snow looking at Hood? Around what time does the park normally fall apart/ would it still be good at the end of June?

2. Besides living in the car, what are some places near hood that you can stay at for pretty cheap? Campsites?

3. My friend and I both work Park Crew at Trollhaugen in Wisconsin. Is there any chance we could help out the park in exchange for cheaper riding/some money or is that not a thing?

4. What would be the cheapest way to ride Hood in the summer? Ik they have the May Pass but is there anything like that for June or would we have to buy a season pass?

5. Although I mostly want to ski, what are some other great places or activities nearby that you guys would recommend? We would have a car so I do want to go to the coast for a couple days and do some hiking and surfing there.

I can't be the first Newschooler to plan/do this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. Public park will still be super fun at the end of June.

2. Most of the land near hood is national park, so you can camp off any of the old logging roads between Sandy and Hood for 2 weeks legally without any fees or anything.

3. I don't really think this is a thing with the public park, but I know MHSSC usually does their dig to ride program. Someone else will know more about this than I.

4. Summer passes at Hood are maad expensive. Your best bet is to either do may pass, dig to ride, or hike.

5. The hiking around Hood is unbelievable. Can give you some names of places if you'd like. Besides that, Portland, the Coast, you can go white water rafting.

yeah public park should still be pretty good in june depending on how much snow they get this winter.

car camp, shower in streams like a true gypsy

never heard of anything like that
its like a grand for a summer pass, i think day passes are around 75 bucks? so if you plan on riding most of the time out there it could be cheapre just to buy a summer pass, then maybe you could sell it to some homie when you leave.

Oregon has the most skateparks in america, so if you skate theres a ton of options. Portland is kinda grimy but cool, I fell in love with the hikes around the mountain. Shit is sooooo sick. Lost lake is rad, theres a shit ton of waterfalls. Tillamook is a sick little coast town with a dank cheese factory. The octopus tree is pretty sick, so is cape meares.

You'll have to buy a pass. No way around it and it sucks.

There's a bunch of access roads to camp on as well as a camp site called the Air Strip right outside of Govy. Depending on the snow you can probably lap the park on Mile no problem. Eventually it will melt out and you'll have to hike a bit but it's nothing too bad. This also might not happen in June, but as always it depends on snow.

For dig-to-ride with Windells you have to be in the lane when the diggers get there, which is usually just before 8am. You have to help rake and throw salt for the morning shift, and the afternoon shift as well. Windells always has a fun park so I'd imagine it's worth it for anyone who wants to do it.

There's a shit ton of fun things to do and places to go. Hood river has tons of cool hiking and mountain bike trails. There's also an insane skatepark. The coast is a couple hours away and there are a bunch of really rad beaches to camp at. Portland is also not too far from Govy and it's a pretty cool city.

I was just up there today. Its pretty good, a hand full of solid rails and a well shaped jump. There is about a 100 yard walk to the lift at the bottom.

Anyone know how the pro park looks? Might be sending Saturday and Sunday and would rather pay 60 for 2 tickets instead of 140.

Makes sense but is super lame, if I'm not impulsive next weekend I'll just wait for the $130 spring pass after winters done. My friends are there now and yesterday had to pay 100 cause they dont even have a public park, think they might next weekend cause pro closes today.
