tahoearmada20shop fucked you over, those are not for retail sale
we get those every year a year in advance to show at sales meetings and to give to shop managers and other employees that sell a lot of product
go back and get a full refund or a new lens
performance wise they are the same but the shop got them free and is not allowed to sell them
Rum_Hamalso probably have the antifog scraped off by every idiot handling them
onenerdykidSales Samples are simply the first versions to get produced (after the green light process to create has been signed off) and they usually 100% the same quality you get when buying a serial production lens.
Now not all Sales Samples have been handled by lots of people- that stamp/engraving just means it was part of the Sample production run. It might be 100% never touched by someone, then again it might have been lots of times.
Shops get samples from brands all the time, usually on the cheap. So, at the very least, this shop should have given you a deal on the lens.
tl/dr: if it's new and untouched, it's 100% good to go, but you still should have gotten a little bit of a deal. If it's an actual show room sample where 1000s of people touched it, it should be for free.
