So I'm bored of skiing in the normal places in the world I've been beyond spoiled Ive done many many back to back seasons in most of the words major resorts t bs blah blah anyways this past winter after a long injury i decided that once a year I'm going to save my cash and go to a new crazy ski area in a far off place to shred pow , get drunk ect . I visited Sochi in Russia last winter and it was pretty amazing we kinda got skunked on snow as we went in march instead of feb and I want to go back but I'm trying to line up some new ideas. So the point of this thread is to inspire ideas about new destinations that people normally wouldn't associate with skiing. My next options for this winter are Gulmarg in India, Iran or perhaps Russia again but deeper into the Caurcus mountains. Has anybody on this site been to a crazy exotic ski destination, if so what was your experience like , would you reccomend a certain resort and if it where do some of you dream of going??

I certainly want to ski in India, that is top of my bucket list, I've spent time there but never got to ski.
The craziest place for me was this summer in Lesotho (country surrounded by South Africa) at Afriski. Pretty wild experience, it's awesome to combine interesting travel with skiing.

Well that's why you don't associate Scotland for skiing, but he's kinda asking for it if he wants to go to places not really known for skiing. At least there are things to see around, or to do some tourism.
My buddy just proposed skiing mt olympus in april. Apparently there are lifts down low and high alpine hike-to sick ski decents up high. If anyone has beta on skiing with the gods please dm me

for OP - Greece or Bulgaria can be skied in Europe
- ski Kashmir while playing the Zep song on repeat
- ski the Hindu Kush while blazing that shit up nonstop and pretend youre a navy SEAL hunting bin laden
- ski Heaven Lake on the border of North Korea and China while, uh, not getting taken prisoner. but you'll shred the North Korean side of it cause you're no bitch
Antarctica for sure. You get on a boat in Argentina and ride along the coast of Antarctica picking off cool peaks that you can hike up and ride all the way down to the ocean. Must be the coolest experience skiing with penguins and stuff. Expensive af tho

Skiing in Greece is pretty wild. Northern Greece actually has really good skiing, I have friends who went and did that last winter and they said it was pretty epic. I would look into that.

Yeah from what my friends told me they said the snow is pretty good. They said the mountains are really similar to the Dolomites but with much less altitude. The skiing is super cheap but don't expect tons of big mountain skiing, if you want to do that you have to go backcountry skiing but because the Greek economy is in the trash apparently a guide cost them like $50 a day so that may be worthwhile and a much better option for skiing there. I heard the resort skiing is definitely sub-par but a super interesting experience. Their favorite resort was Falakro which apparently was pretty cool but again if you're looking for awesome lines backcountry skiing with a guide is the way to go.

cool, thanks for the response. Our plan is to go to Athens for a month and ball out. When we expect a good weather window the plan is to get a resort day or three to get our legs back, then go summit and ski some high alpine lines on mt olympus.
Interesting suggestion to get a guide for our bc mission days. I'll look into that
