Thinking about getting a GoPro 5 black or GoPro 6. Any recommendations or issues with these cameras?

I remember I saved up for the GoPro Hero 5 Black and I got it from MEC. First Time i brought it up to the mountain and was about to film a park lap but then it automatically died. I took it inside and all of the sudden its fully charged.
Next ski trip I went into the lodge and took it out of my pocket and it died even though it was warm.
Third time it died in my car when I was trying to turn it on.
So I went back to MEC and told them about my situation so they ordered in a new GoPro Hero 5 black and we did an exchange. My new one works way better.
I have never tried out any other Gopros.

It took me a couple trips to learn the nuances of it while skiing (HERO 5 Black/first gopro actually). I did, however, spend a ton of time messing with it at work and on/in my car, which was sick because of the app.
Would suggest, spend some coin on extra batteries.
