Iced up bindings

BraviscowsI'm not sure if this is normal or not. When I use my skis in soft snow, it gets into my bindings and ices them up terribly, to the point I can no longer clip in. This is especially frustrating because I'm hiking a tiny backyard park.

This happened to my brother after he took a nasty fall. Ice got jammed in his bindings in the back. We thought they were broken. All you have to do is use a flathead screwdriver and scrape out the ice. Takes a few seconds

That's exactly what I've been doing, but it's like every few laps. Never happens at the resort or on hard pack.

I ski in my yard about every day and this happens about 3/4 of the time that it's below freezing. The way I get the snow off is to hit it off using my bindings. First if there's snow in the binding itself I poke it out with my poles. Then to get it off my boots, I hit the heel part of the boot on the toe piece of the binding. I only pull back, I always seem to miss when I push it forwards. For the toe part of the boot, I go both ways and I can seem to get it off the boot. Not sure if this is the exact problem you're talking about but if what I mentioned comes up, that's how I solve it.

Main reason I carry poles right here. I guess I could carry a screwdriver but I'd be worried about stabbing myself. With poles I can stab other people and whack the ice off my boots.

I just realized I misread your post. I was referring to ice getting behind the binding under the little metal piece. You literally can't engage the rear binding...... It sounds like you're referring to snow on the toe and heel pieces of your bindings, causing there to be not enough space to fit your boot in. To prevent that, just kick the snow off your boots by scraping over the top of the toe piece them back and forth a few times before clicking in. Or use a pole to smack or scrape your soles before clicking in. Works every time
