Awkward lift moments

I’ll start it off
Yesterday I thought these 2 boys were 2 babes and I asked “Could I ride up with you ladies?” They replied in a deeper (euro) tone “Sure, you can ride middle” So there I am sitting in an awkward silence the whole ride up Norman’s in between two euro boys who legit looked like 2 very fine toursit babes. They broke the silence eventually and asked me which way I was getting off. Not gonna lie for 2 boys they made some pretty fine babes with winter gear on, if I never asked to ride up with them I would have showed them my powder stash(if you know what I mean) on the way down!

I call it the "Pickup Line" the best line on the mountain, I ask the tourist ladies(apparently guys too now) to ride up with them; then I fuck them after long convos about how their husbands are assholes for leaving them behind so that they can get trashed in the lodge.

My buddy, the lift ops manager at a mtn I worked at a few years ago made some comment like "check out that ass". Was not a girl. People gave him shit about it but he was a great sport.

I saw a video a few years ago of this guy and this chick skiing. The dude went first apparently but had a pink helmet and the video had the chicks name first.

I made a thread on here and sent it to a bunch of people about how sick womens skiing just got and how stoked I was for the future. Then somebody mentioned that it was actually a guy. And the girl came on after.

A few years ago skiing with my dad, he put the bar down (ik, he's like the only guy on the mountain who does) and hit a guy in the head with it. Once I was on the lift with my friend at a vail resort and we were with this lady and she wasn’t talking so I broke the silence by asking her if she was a local. She replied “oh yes I live in San Fransisco” which is 400 miles away we both tried to refrain from laughing but as were about to get off my friend broke out and nearly fell off the lift the lady just looked at us while we got off like she wanted to kill us.

was having a really good solo pow day and got paired up with 3 french people in the lift line. they were all on frontside skis like less than 80 underfoot and they hit me in the head with the bar before we were even out from under the base tower

I once rode up with a woman and her son, the son was about my age. The poor kid was sitting between her and I, and was completely silent the whole time. She aggressively tried to set me up with him, and after multiple polite declinations on my part the ride finally ended.
Lucky for me though, she had joined a women's club I was coaching, and I had 3 more weeks of her trying to push her romantic agenda on me.

My buddies and I had a challenge where we would convince people on the lift with us that we were not only going to the Olympics, but we would have to make up something that we were the first to be along with it (for example, the first Olympian with no toes was one of them). So I get onto a chair with three other people and we’re chatting and I tell them that I was going to be the first male Olympian with only one testicle. Since we were getting off in a few seconds, I thought I would be able to leave it at that and not explain WHY. Unfortunately, the chair stops, and I sit there for a good five minutes making up this story about how I only have a single testicle.

i was riding an old two person lift up (the type that swoops you up pretty hard), i was paired with a guy with old school long skis, and his skis got caught as we were coming out from under the base tower, as he was falling off the chair, he tried to grab on to me but he ended up pulling me down with him

Today I decided to shoot my shot with two babes way out of my league and after getting shot down the first time when i brought up the classic weather convo I wasn’t fazed then I decided to pull up the goggles and pull down the face mask and try again this time with a little more personal approach they both looked at me, looked at each other, and laughed. The rest of that lift was not only awkward but i don’t know if I’ll ever be able to find my confidence ever again.

was riding a quad lift with 2 homies and some dude in his 30s or 40s last december. when we got on the chair he started out asking how our day was and then immediatly began quizzing us on our political beliefs for the whole 10 minute ride. was pretty wierd, he was like lowkey trying to defend trump but never actually told us his own beliefs so idk what he was trying to get out of us

when i wasn smaller i was trying to make my ski touch the ground before my dads and i stuck it right down towards the ground and it dug in and pulled me off the chair and then fell off and slid in to the basket thing

Last winter my friend and I were riding a quad chair with a couple of old dudes on a spring bluebird day. It was entirely silent until the one grandpa turns to the other and says, "today is the type of day a chick would have her tits out going down the hill, eh?". My friend and I just stared at each other and tried not to laugh. The rest of the lift was silent.

my friend and i tried to convince these people on the gondola that we were german and didn't speak english and right as we got off the lift we just start talking in perfect english and they got pretty confused

My first season ever and I'm 23. Its later on in the season so im just trying some jumps and sliding a few boxes. Always , its not so busy and im alone about to get on the lift and a ski instructor asks me if one of the kids he has can ride with me because hes to young to ride himself. So I'm talking to the kid on the way up hes telling me hes just learning some stuff and im thinking aw that's pretty cool. Anyway jump off the lift I'm standing the top of the park. The kid comes ripping past , huge 3 on the first large jump! Fuck me...... he cant even ride the chair alone so he needs a rookie like me to sit beside him

Okay, so I’ve got twice stories. Both happened at the same resort and within the same season (2014)

1) while riding a quad-chair lift with my two buddies and a stranger, I felt the stranger lean into my ear and whisper “what’s your biggest fear little boy? I won’t tell you friends!” So I immediately lean over to my buddies and yell “YO, WHATS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR!” We all went on the list off our fears, saying stuff like snakes and spiders and shit like that. After we tell our fears, the stranger looks at us all and says in the most serious voice I’ve ever heard “my fear is that a big black man will come into my room and shove his hand so far up my ass that he’ll control me like a puppet! And that’s why I wear butt plugs to bed!” The rest of the ride up was silent. Once the kid was out of earshot, my buddies and I bust out laughing and spent 5 minutes laying down laughing our asses off.

2) as I was getting on the lift, I saw I was gonna ride up with some dude in all black and volkls. I didn’t really think anything of it, and I sat down and began to ride up the chair. Being the social guy I am, I tried to make small talk and said something like “nice skis” or “how is it out there?”, I’m not really sure what I said exactly. All I remember is he didn’t say anything back. I was kinda annoyed by that, and just whipped out my phone and scrolled through twitter. When I went to turn my phone off, I caught a reflection of the guy next to me, as he has taken off his hat and goggles. It was Nick Goepper.

I was trying to think of one and I finally thought of a story after reading this thread.

One time at Winter Park I was super stoned and got on the lift with three toddlers (ski school students). I was friendly and put the bar down for them right away and did the usual (hey, how's it going). Somehow the conversation ended up with me talking about how it's good to put the bar down when you are young so you don't fall off the lift. This managed to scare them and the looks on their faces was one of terror and they immediately went silent.

I realized my mistake and tried to backpedal (no, no, no you guys won't fall off the lift we have the bar down) but it was too late. The remaining 3/4ths of the ride was awkward.

Last year around new years me and a buddy were on a 4 seater with this older snowboarder dude (35-40ish), and since we were coming back from lunch break we wanted to spark one up so badly... It was a long lift ride and we were mumbling if we should do it or not because he looked real serious, but I pulled a little splif that I rolled up for two of us and asked if he minds that we light it up? Dude just smiled at me, and said to hold on a second while he reached for his backpack... He pulled out a huge blunt from a real sweet plastic blunt case with DEA sign on it, got us so fucked up and told us a really funny story how he started smoking like 20+ years ago, and how his mom was throwing away his weed whenever she found his stash at home when he was younger, we literally couldn't stop laughing for entire lift ride. On the end of the lift he just said "Kids, ride safe and fuck bitches while you can", and went down the tree line below the lift.
We were shocked how lit we got(we are pretty heavy smokers), we had to take a snickers bar and chill for like 20 minutes before we went to meet the rest of the squad and tell them about this guy and his weed :D
Arguably the best weed I smoked, and most definitely the best lift ride with a stranger ever!

one time i was riding up the lift with my homie and these two old people. we were engaging in small talk and about the future of our resort, then i brought up POW (protect our winters) and they got really dismissive and just flat out just didn't reply. Then we rode up the rest of the ride in silent. At the end i said have a good day and they still didn't even reply.

When I was about 12, I was riding up Chair 2 at Vail. I had tucked my poles between my legs on the lift so I didn't have to hold them going up. As I was getting off the lift, I stand up and begin to pull my poles out. They make it about 2 feet out before the baskets get jammed on the back of the chair and my poles got stuck. The chair began to swoop around the terminal as I'm still trying to remove my poles. I proceeded to get lifted off the ground by my poles and circle around the terminal hanging by my crotch. My poles eventually snapped under my weight.

Last week i got on a lift with a skier and a boarder and the skier started talking about doing anal with his girlfriend and then he started talking about how he broke up with his girlfriend and her saying "we can still be friends with benefits" while I was just sitting there quietly

I was at A basin the beginning of the season this year and my friend and I were catching first chair on like a Wednesday so we get stuck with these two old ass dudes. Mid-way up the lift one of the old dudes turns to us and goes, "so you boys smoke the reefer?" and we were pretty high already and we were like "yeah?". The old man proceeds to pull out a spliff and smoke it with us, hands us a pot brownie to split between us and tell us about how up until about 3 years ago he and his old ass friend would ski on shrooms every Tuesday at A basin. We were just sitting there shocked that these seemingly gapper old ass dudes were actually chill as fuck. Needless to say it was a little awkward at first but ended up being one of the best chairlift rides I've ever experienced.

I was riding a quad with 2 kids younger than me. One pulls out an 8 inch cigar and a torch and proceeds to light it. They went off the lift and into some trees to the left. I did a lap and when I got back up to the summit I could distantly see them still puffing away.

I went to get on a 4 person lift solo on a pretty slow day last spring, and some middle aged guy comes up from behind and barley makes it on with me. I didn't really care, and just pulled out my phone right away to queue up some songs for the next run. After only a few moments I look over and see the guy slip off the chair and fall, luckily only was like a 10' drop into powder at the point but I thought it was hilarious.

Was on a chairlift with two tourist, a dad and his daughter. The daughter was talking about her boyfriend and a bunch of random (and very personal) stuff related to him.

I was kinda just sitting there while they were talking about this and it was obvious that the dad hated his daughters boyfriend, typical edgy dead end type of guy apparently... Halfway through the chairlift ride the dad interrupted his daughter and struck up a conversation with me. We talked for a lil bit and after learning I was a local, somewhat accomplished, still in school, etc...the dad started trying SET ME UP WITH HIS DAUGHTER while she was sitting right next to me.

It was the most awkward fuckin thing, the dad was just going on about how great his daughter is, how she's attractive (which she actually kinda was), how were the same age, how she could come up in the weekends, etc... While she awkwardly sat next to me in silence inching away, not attracted and also in a relationship.

I was so wierded out, even just thinking about that situation still makes me feel awkward sometimes...

Got caught in-between a couple in a pretty heated argument. Of course was sitting in the middle of the two, and halfway up the girl turned to me and asked for my opinion on her side of the story. Needless to say the last half of the ride was pretty awkward.

Oh my God I almost forgot about this one, wildest chair ride I've ever had in my entire life, happened last year.

Me and one of my friends get on the chair with two guys, a gaper who was having a hell of a time getting on the chair and the most fired up dude I've ever met. Moments after we get on the chair the gaper falls off because the fired up guy accidentally pushed him off.

He was OK but me and my friend were like what the fuck that guy just pushed the other guy off for more room. After realizing this, the other guy on the chair who was actually drunk and fucked up on drugs out of his fucking mind went on a crazy speech about how we shouldn't sympathize for the guy who fell off the chair, he said that it's like getting the shits. "Sure it happens but we don't sympathize for the person with it, hell sometimes it'll happen to you." He went on to ramble about how unlike us that guy didn't learn to ski when he was a kid and so on...

At that point I fuckin knew that this guy was on some kind really hard drug or sum and sure enough he pulls out a pipe and starts smoking what he told us was "hash". It was like 10 in the morning and this dude was drunk and high out of his mind I'm tellin ya.

He even offered us some of his "hash" but we politely refused and then he realized he just tried to offer hash to 15 and 16 year old kids. He then has a existential crisis of sorts and was like HOLY SHIT I just offered drugs to kids I'm a horrible person, he sobbed a bit.

He went on a whole bunch of other rants while he was smoking whatever it was idfk.

Before we got of the chair he told us he does crazy back country shit in BC and we should look up his website. He said his site was called "Patrick colt.com" he then proceeded to tell us how to remember the site: Patrick like the holiday ya know? And colt like the gun.

He said it to us multiple times increasingly faster and louder PATRICK COLT.COM and at that point I thought he must've been on crack or something... After that we got off the chair and he wished us a wonderful day. The website doesn't exist either. This is a true story though even if that might be hard to believe. Sorry it's super long but it's the story in its entirety.

He went on a whole bunch of other rants while he was smoking whatever it was idfk.

Before we got of the chair he told us he does crazy back country shit in BC and we should look up his website. He said his site was called "Patrick colt.com" he then proceeded to tell us how to remember the site: Patrick like the holiday ya know? And colt like the gun.

He said it to us multiple times increasingly faster and louder PATRICK COLT.COM and at that point I thought he must've been on crack or something... After that we got off the chair and he wished us a wonderful day. The website doesn't exist either. This is a true story though even if that might be hard to believe. Sorry it's super long but it's the story in its entirety.

No, the gaper only fell about 10 feet into a ton of pow and the lifties probably didn't notice. They didn't stop the chair at the top and from there the crack head just booked it.

i was riding up the lift at winter park with this snowboarder and his other skier friend with volkls and the boarder was complimenting the kid's skis and he said "thanks they're volkls" and the boarder just goes "wow i didn't even know volkl made skis"
