PrimoIn addition to treatment of this.....If this is your first time experiencing shin bang or it continuously occurs, never heat the area of pain. Meaning, no hot packs, hot tubs, or hydrocollator packs. As shin bang causes active inflammation of the tibia and associated musculature, heating the are will only perpetuate symptoms. Ice ice ice. This coming from myself, a DPT.

twatt_chaurusI don't have a degree in that stuff, but I was under the impression that ice isn't good for injuries of any sort? I thought it was more of an improvised pain relief that does nothing else but relief pain. I looked up the RICE-method when I sprained my ankle, and even the guy who came up with that stuff said that using ice just delays recovery.

PoikenzI was under the impression that heat could be good, plenty of kick boxers use heat and they sustain similar impact injuries to their shins
