Early End Edge vs Full Wrap Edges

Brands such as HG Skis, ON3P and J Skis build their park models with edges ending around or before the contact point of the ski, suggesting that "this reduces pressure in the tips, preventing edge blowouts" (HG Skis). As HG and ON3P have reputations for durability here on NS, that seems to have some merit.

Meanwhile larger brands such as Armada and Line alongside other boutique brands like Icelantic (and I think Vishnu too?) make their skis with full edge wrap in all park/jib models, arguing that this increases the durability of the ski.

Are there any ski builders or people who've experienced both that can comment on the pros and cons of each method? What should the consumer be considering in the choice to buy a ski with early end vs full edge wrap?

Arguments by both sides that you have mentioned have merit. As a consumer I wouldn't really fuss over such details unless you have had problems with one or the other design in the past. Honestly i would say it has more to do with when your ski was built in the factory (tuesday morning, or a friday afternoon) when it comes to quality and durability, and that something you can never really know or control.

My 2 cents (from a ski tech) on a freeride ski edge wrap is 100x more durable than early finish. I’m sure park skis it gives a better flex tip tail.

every full wraps park ski I ski seems to rip out to about the end of running length most times. From a ski builders view, wood is flexible, glue is flexible, fiberglass is flexible, carbon fiber is flexible....metal is not. Naturally from the amount of flex and abuse park skis see the metal wrapped around the tip doesn't flex at the same rate as the rest of the material and slowly over time cracks out, eventually seemingly to rip out. I personally am a fan of non full wrapped edges.

Good point, just keep your eyes on the edge where it ends after each day of skiing.
That said the metal edges are indeed quite flexible until they get hammered to death.
Maybe the reason is too many hard hits tapping tips and tails on steel.
