Nikolai Shirmer is wack.
He's obviously a very good skier, but his videos are lame and he's a bad influence in skiing. At least twice he's made videos about quitting the overly exposed skiing and going back to less risky freeride. But then he's back to the near death experience videos a week later. I wish he'd take a break from feeding the risk fetishists and just catch some air or throw some tricks on terrain that's not guaranteed to be fatal.

Nikolai is cool. Wouldn't say he is bad influence. Overall his videos have positive vibes. He is better influence as a person than lot of other athletes.
I'm not his most active viewer. I haven't see all of his videos. His videos are entertaining and high quality. He shows some of his mistakes which other influencers would have left out.
I feel like he is following the traditional road of adrenaline addicts. Gotta do more to get the same rush as before and for some it goes too far leading to death. Apparently his skiing got more reckless again after he broke up. Maybe it's just his way of fighting the demons. I don't blame him.
Other option is that he does it for the clicks. You do get a tasty clickbaits from risky adventures. I doubt this though.

There is a friend group of about 10 people at my school that literally always have arc beanies on, and they are also the people who ski on 1000 skis, buy 25$ burgers daily, have the tight jacket over the baggy pants, can’t even hit rails despite every single piece of gear on their body being from a park-related brand, and have dismal style. Like mittens waving around like a fucking windmill. They think they’re “in the culture” but in reality they are just buzz lightyear copies of every other insta skier. Honestly after watching a bit more of him I'm starting to go back on my original statement. After skiing some short Revolt 104's (park beaters) I'm starting to realize that 100-110 isn't shit for width unless you're sizing up.

honestly I'd say any width goes for a daily out west. 105-108 would be the sweet spot for most people but there are definitely a few guys out there in the rockies having a blast pushing a 122 as a daily.

Horses for courses I guess. If I skied somewhere it never snowed I'd prob love some ice skates, same if I preferred ripping groomer all day. I have a good friend I play hockey with that has some random salomon 70 or 80mm 'all mountain' skis that he manages to muscle around some pretty deep and tight shit when we ski. I prefer the surf over being locked in but I'm ngl I want a pair of ice skates or bump skis for shits and gigs
