Lenny-Short form ski videos/clips are better most the time.
I don't care to see random B roll of your homies or whatever. I don't care to see 100 mid clips to get to the 3 good clips in your 30 min ski "film". I don't care how artsy you think you are. Most the time I see a 10+ minute I don't watch it unless it was made by certain people, over 30 minutes feels like you don't respect my time.
I'd agree that shorter is better with the exception of instagram. Even good ig edits don't have much staying power. For me the length isn't necessarily an issue by itself, it's more about exactly what you said - people not being selective enough with their clips
at this point I'm getting tired of super 8 in videos. Not against it but I feel like it's more of a routine now for more established crews (both skiing and boarding) and the footage gets used in the similar ways each time.

Only cool when the actual clip or a second angle is filmed with it. Otherwise it’s so played.
If I’m watching a movie/ edit and they use the typical royalty free YouTube music, it’s an immediate nope. The new @joshdaiek movie was so sick but the music was insanely wack. Honestly don’t even bother filming if all you’re gonna do is make it into another soulless formulaic ski movie. There are infinite actual musicians making good music. Figure it the fuck out!
Really threads should be tagged as ski gabber/nonski/gear/etc but all appear in the same place (Forums) then if you really want to sort it you could add the ability to filter by users tags. As it stands right now good threads go unseen because they end up in an much less used part of the site.
I don't expect this to ever be changed but it's been on my mind for awhile. I also understand that if you had a much bigger user base having things the way they currently are keeps everything neat.

Couldn't tell you if this has already been said since there's 75 pages of forums, but instagram clip farming is kinda cool and saving up a bunch of clips to make some type of ski film is kinda boring. I'd rather watch dope instagram edits on my feed than watch even a 15 min long film. 5 min max, but at that point just put it on reels. Also the whole wave of insta-skiers is kinda sick and from a sponsorship standpoint makes way more sense since the value of sponsoring someone can be quantified based on instagram analytics.

heres some bulletpoints for you to try again:
- Luke Votaw and Bruce Oldham are the coolest skiers ever
- only watched 5 mins of zootspace before you got bored
- fisheye sucks because it distorts the shot, unlike vertical clips (exlcusively what you film)
- magma is played out, jackson karsteter vlogs are what i edge to
-pivots are NOT supposed to be used in the bedroom
- drink IPAs and live in florida
- make sure to be more of an asshole and more specific. tell these guys that eat the guts needed subtitles and is therefore mid

Obviously I love ski films and I don't want them to get replaced by short form content but I also want to see it on my feed.
The sponsorship thing is very valid. it lets you pump out way more media and improve you odds.
Also think about all the cool clips that get taken but don't make the final cut in long form edits a lot of that stuff now ends up going on reels.

I get that but all I'm saying is that social medial makes it easier for athletes to get noticed. The unfortunate truth is that making reels is way more profitable then making long form media. The companies that are more involved in the community will still continue to support films but its likely that we will see less support for films from large companies. I have mixed feelings about it but in the long run its unavoidable and production companies like Level 1 will keep making movies.
I think skiers who want to go pro will basically have to focus on social media but that doesn't stop them from making longer media
