Going to Aspen. Need advice.

So I'm going to Aspen for 2 weeks over the winter break and I wanted to know if local experts could tell me what I should go do and where I should go for the good snow etc. If its worth going to snowmass, things like that little expert knowledge

They have a pretty good ski hill over there. Tubing is pretty fun too!

I have not been to Aspen in years, but I remember liking Aspen Highlands better than either Aspen or Snowmass. Things could have changed, it has been a while.

we have no snow. very little terrain and not much on the horizon...but it will snow and when it does every mountain goes off...what are you looking for? steep? deep? cliffs? chutes? Gnar? speed? pillows? park?

umm i from the east coast so getting away from the park would be good... like definetely cliffy, pow terrain with like natural kickers if oyu know what i mean

Maybe like the Y zones on Highlands, they are pretty sick, not really chutes but some cool stuff. Also runs like AMF and Gowdys off of the Cirque are rad!!! There aren't really any super tight chutes like at Jackson or something, at least not from what I have found.

Dude come over spring break or something, it's not looking very good for cliffy pow, there is probably like 10% of the terrain open on Aspen mountain and like 1% on Snowmass.

If you're there for 2 weeks ski them all. Can skip buttermilk though if you don't care about riding park. Snowmass has a sick park anyway and just about everything else you can want. Highlands is absolutely worth hitting and Ajax has some pretty sick terrain as well.

You can get to any of them from anywhere in aspen/snowmass via the free rafta bus.

It's crazy how obsessed with snow everyone is there. I was hanging out in Escobar one night, and these well dressed jersey shore looking dudes kept coming up to me and asking if I knew where to find snow.

It's like: "Dude-bros, it's dark, ripping pow lines in the dark is dangerous."

Hate to break it to you bud but us Coloradans have no snow right now. Some places are better than others but I'd say Aspen is just about as bad as it gets right now. My advice would be pray to the snow gods that they dump snow before you come and bring skis that you don't give a fuck about because you'll be hitting a rock or two while you're out here. That being said I really hope it dumps and you have a fucking awesome trip because when that area gets snow its fucking sick. Definitely recommend Aspen Highlands. Snowmass is also dope but I'm more of a fan of Aspen Highlands. Also, be prepared to pay out the ass for everything, Aspen is bougie as fuck.

Ajax has been super fun even with no snow. There's some kickers and drops on the side, and they've got significantly more open than snowmass. Once we get snow snowmass is definitely my favorite, but they do have a smaller park right now.

Zane’s, Happy bowl, bamboo bear, New York pizza. Snowmass has big hoss as well.
Justice snow does a $5 beer and shot happy hour.
You won’t find anything cheaper than burger and beer for 12 at Zane’s.
Food that’s fire if you spend little more Zocalitas, kenichi, Meat & cheese, mezzeluna, and White House tavern.
Cheap food places are dying off in Aspen so they can have more art galleries.

CP Burger is about $7.00 for a burger and is actually good food.
Big Wrap, Taster's Pizza, and New York Pizza are all within a reasonable budget. Depending on where you're staying it's generally cheaper to eat downvalley in Basalt or Carbondale.

Soooo much better. Still not a ton of coverage in some places, but the opened terrain makes up for it.

After 48 hours there, I can attest to that. But all the girls look like posh gold-diggers. I mean they're all so posh no one skis before 11 am and everyone's gone by 2. But hey, great view!

There's still nothing. We had snow on Christmas which was fun, but since then it's been pretty bad. They closed the burn on Snowmass and pretty much every run is rocky, though I haven't hit highlands yet.

The best thing about aspen is the belly up-- a tiny 450 capacity venue that books tight acts all winter. Seriously, if you live in a small ski town out west, do not look at this music lineup that aspen is delivering. I'd spend over a grand on tickets per winter if I lived there.

3 night runs of UM and STS9?! And later this month in an 8 day stretch with the floozies, passion pit, The WAILERS, big Boi, Tribal seeds, method man and redman, and two nights of LCD Soundsystem-- 8 DAYS IN A ROW. That is an insanely fun diverse lineup

Alright you win. But if I were seeing LCD soundsystem there next month during a pow cycle, I'd miss thefuck outta first chair. And if I did stay up all night and make up there early, you'd prob pass me on the hike. But all that won't happen because tickets are $200 wtf
