I think this is what people are overlooking, the power of TV coverage over time. Everyone is looking at this through the lens of internet savvy millennial skiers. Getting a lot of hits and reposts is one thing, but it won't make you a household name with older people and non-sportsfans. However, Olympic footage gets played year after year in homes all over the world, some of it has been around collecting views for decades.
Considering the international reach of TV over time, my guess is Johnny Fuckin Moseley. No one but me in my family skis, but my wife knows him from hosting those MTV shows, and my mom still remembers his gold medal mogul run that blew minds in the 90's. A shit ton of people worldwide over time have seen his face.
