Replying to Armada skis / General questions about sidecut
Hello NS,
I am no expert and I barely have time to really ski anymore but I am obsessed and love to understand everything I can possibly learn. Just bought the ARV 96, 184, and I am interested in knowing how companies come up with their factory recommended lines. Is the -5 line (factory recommended) for a lot of Armada's skis the point on the ski that is the skinniest?
Why would a company put the skinniest part of the sidecut basically on the heal of most park skiers if they make park skis. If this factory line is the skinniest, it would logically lead me to believe that the ski would be incredible mounted at -5, why not move it up a little?
a little background: I am mostly an all mountain guy and will hit up the park where i used to basically live. I have my ARV 96 at -4 now (the shop fucked me over, long story, remount, they didn't listen to me or bother calling, I can't mount them anywhere else now) and I'm starting to research and realize that I'm most likely still technically in progressive riding position, i am like 70% all mountain, 30% park now.
