The perfect playful charger

I need some help on finding the perfect playful charger. I ski whistler and I weigh about 140 lbs and 5,9 I ski everything from trees, steeps, chutes powder, natural hits, crud however i'm not skiing moguls landing switch or throwing big tricks I just like a poppy ski to jump off little cliffs and have the confidence to charge through a variable landing off a natural cliff. But I also like skiing down scary stuff and have a ski thats stable and has my back. I have been looking at Moment deathwish, On3p Kartel 108, J skis the metal, ON3P Wrens 108, Atomic backland 109, Line supernatural 108, Moment Belafonte. If it helps I rode Salomon qst, I liked the feel just want something like that but more poppy and fun. nothing over 114 guys this will be my quiver killer. Thanks in advance

Well, I’ve got two days down on my kartel 108s and couldn’t possibly recommend them enough. They handled different terrain so easily it’s been like having a cheat code. They were dying to be airborne- and I’ll probably let them be more often when I’ve got my ski legs back in shape hehe.

Thanks man got a couple of questions, Can they charge through crud, and what about tight places like trees will they hold up bombing down runs?

I'd take the belafonte and wren off that list, they are gonna be pretty burly. Deathwish, K108, or Icelantic Nomad 105 would all be great choices, and if you're willing to go up 1-2mm from your 114 limit the Bibby Pro, K116 and Nomad 115 would all be great for what you want as well.

They are made for use as a variable playful charger. Twin rocker and slightly directional shape make it playful and comfortable going either switch or regular. Poplar core keeps it light and poppy with a fiberglass laminate. VDS helps to dampen for crud busting. 2.2mm edges help to hold up to any abuse or rail usage. Decent camber helps on the hardpack, but they are geared a tiny bit more towards the soft stuff. If you have your eyes on a more hard day ski, then the 96 version would be the way to look.

Check out the black crows atris, sounds like a really good fit. I haven't skied them but I've heard it's a really playful/solid daily driver (108 underfoot). I've skied the black crows camox, also sounds like a good ski for you except it's 98 underfoot so it seems out of your width range.

Based off your height and weight I'm assuming you'd go for the 184s which are 116 underfoot, 2mm wider than your 114 cut-off.

Blizzard Rustler 10s would also be a good option. I'm on a pair right now (I'm 5'8" and on the 188cm) and they're really playful, great in crud and carving is 10/10. 102mm underfoot at 180cm and 104mm at 188cm. If you want something wider the Rustler 11s would be good (same ski but 112mm at 180cm and 114mm at 188cm). I also ski at whis and the 10s do just fine for big mountain.

Damn, 184s for someone who is 5'9" 140lbs? That seems long to me but I'm no expert by any stretch

For an expert skier its really not too bad. I'm 5'9" but about 40lbs heavier and ride the 184s no problem.

Meh....im 5'10 and 155ish...my smallest ski is 184. It's all preference

Rustler 10s are kinda pricy and you cant find any that arent new retail. Blizzard Peacemakers are fucking amazing. I use mine every day on the east coast ice, they carve through it no problem. 104 underfoot I think and I love them for natural hits. I've never reached their speed limit but I have friends that say they get a little bit chattery past ~50mph, but most things on your list besides maybe wrens supernaturals or belafontes would probably hit that limit faster.

Jeffery 114's can do literally anything, when I bought them I assumed they would only be good in the pow but they were amazing everywhere on the mountain and in every kind of snow so now I ski them everyday. I know they aren't made anymore but if you can find a pair definitely consider them. If you cant find a pair the kartel 108's or 116's are super similar.

Kartels sound like what you want. Ive owned two pairs of on3p's (filthy rich and this year's magnus) and both have been the most fun skis I've owned. They are insanely poppy and simply fun to ski on. If I wanted a do everything mountain ski I would get kartels.

Kind of off topic, but I've had the chance to ski the cochise this season so far. It's super chargy but lacks overall playfulness.

i'm kind of in the same boat as you i've been looking at the candide 3.0's i'm wondering if anyone here has skiied them or can put some imput, as I ski whistler as well and how they'll hold up

anyone tried to land switch on a rustler 11?? I tried the ski and absolutely loved it, but i do like to land backwards in soft snow when I can and it could be a dealbreaker

They are fairly light, but they charge really well. I have mine mounted with p18's and they weigh more than my Icelantics.
