Early Season Skiing Conditions

I feel like this topic was mentioned elsewhere but I couldn't find it. The answer seems obvious, but I figured I'd ask.
What do you guys typically ski on in early season west coast, considering hitting rocks or other hazards is a higher possibility? Do you pull out some beater skis to use, or just ride your daily drivers like the rest of the season?

Just all depends on snowfall. I've had opening weekends where it snows 2ft and we just send thin ass pow, or like this year it's just white ribbon of death and I find myself skiing much less until it snows more.

Idk I guess it depends. Early seasons means a few runs open but also means you aren’t going “off course” in the trees and fun shit because it’s roped off for the lesser skier/would actually kill your skis anyways.
Snow turns to ice from being skied off in the mornings, prob sport the beaters- always depends.

I usually go into the early season so stoked and take a daily driver out...
The thought is always the same, "tools not jewels"
But at the end of the day I generally wish I would've taken out my beaters instead....

I rode my board down to the shop the other day on a partial work road. Got a nice stone grind. fuck it. It's still good to go.
I bought it to ride it not look at it. Thrash that shit and have fun.

I don't have a lot of skis and the 2 sets I have mounted now have both been out this fall. When we get further into the season I'm just going to be skiing lower into the woods and still dodging rocks. Early season is some of the most fun so go for it.

Meh. Seems divided. Any other thoughts? My beaters would be my Afterbangs, but I'd rather ski my ARVs I just got cuz I've been staring at them in my living room for 2 months. However I would hate myself if I wrecked them the first day out cuz of shitty conditions. Going to A Basin and Winter Park who's terrain is mega limited now. Decisions, decisions...

The daily driver park skis because if you are skiing park they are going to get messed up anyway.

For me, no matter how much snow there is I'm gonna find rocks to hit so I just use the skis I'm finna.
All times are Eastern (-5)
