I have never really been interested in getting a GoPro until the hero 6 and have some questions! I plan on getting the karma grip along with it to film skiing, but for people who use Dslr/mirrorless along with a GoPro in their film setup, when would you use the GoPro over the dlsr/mirrorless??like what scenarios would u use the GoPro with karma grip over the dslr? Thanks ns
I bought a GoPro gimbal last year, recently bought a DSRl gimbal for my DSRL and don't think i'll use my GoPro gimbal much at all now.
I personally just don't like the GoPro look, you can't get away from it no matter how hard you try.
I do think the Karma Grip has it benefits though, especially after seeing Chris Bentchelters project w/ skichef, i think the use of the it on gnarly follow cam lines is the only time id use it.
Yeah. Gopro is great for follow cams. If you crash with a Gopro, if it's in the underwater housing, it will survive. Crash with a dslr, and you could break the lens, the lcd screen, and many other pieces.
If you plan on filming with Gopro, use protune. Turn the sharpness to low. Limit the iso to 100 or 200. Use flat profile if you plan to color grade. Also, remember to stay close to your subject. Gopro cameras make everything look farther away, especially with follow cams.

Bottom line, you don't have the same control or choice of lenses with a gopro. Edits are much more interesting with multiple angles and focal lengths, and for that a gopro doesnt cut it. However, if you just plan on using the clips for insta/watching yourself ski, go pro is a lot more handy and easy to use.
