Ya know, those guys that are still stuck in a certain era, they are the ones who down everybody else's style of skiing. Get this, their style of skiing is not only the "steeziest" but it is also THE right way to ski. If you don't wear a Tall T and baggy pants you are automatically a bad skier according to these guys.

They don't contribute much to the industry as a whole, at least not anymore. In their hay day they had skiing sponsorships, nowadays they either moved on with their lives but still get on NSers to diss on "New Waves" or they haven't moved on with their lives and they are out on the hill looking like a grandpa wearing Tall Baggy Tshirts that cover their baggy pants. They say they hate stuck up racers but really they are just stuck up park, and all mountain skiers so if I were racing i'd hat them to. Did I also mention they smell? Yeah they stink. They hate the New Wave because New Wave skiers are younger, all eyes are on them now, and their style is complicated for these Krusty Krabs too mimic.

Face it, these old dudes health is deteriorating but they still want to be cork. They tried to butter but got a cramp in the process. Some of them sucked it up and moved onto snowboarding(You already know who it is!). Props to them, they would be better off snowboarding.

All in all who am I to tell these crusty old dudes how to life their lives? If they want to be bitter let them, it ain't my problem.

Why the fuck do people call it "New Wave"??? It makes it sound awful and cringey.. why can't we just call it skiing?? Or reference it as to "bunch style" or something like that if you need to call it something..

Also, it doesn't help when NS posts something on social media everyday callin it "new wave". Way to have a terrible name probably stick around now..

Countless skiers are still rocking the tall t look, not just Keegan. Like I could probably make a list of 50 extremely ill riders that are not new wave.

Doesn't change the fact that new wave is everywhere and in your face and its a super lame trend that we will all cringe about one day. (you may say the same about tall t's... but throwing massive switch right 9's to afterbang is nothing to cringe at. buttering on a park bench to a stupid shuffle is something to cringe at).

Maybe people would stop making fun of "new wave" if you idiots stopped dressing exactly alike, learned how to stomp a landing and stopped pretending that your sloppy ass skiing and coming off the rails early is intentional. Most of the shots in those edits are absolute trash that would never make the final cut in a respectable edit.

"New wave" is not style. Its a trend that mindless gapers like you leach onto because you're insecure. A perfect example of this are some of the Hood Crew kids who dressed gangster with tall-Ts and now they wear track pants and overalls over a sweater.

Simply put, its a shitty excuse for style and you're just another trend whore who cares more about looking like someone else than actually skiing. Go play dress up in your tree fort and get the fuck outta the park with that crap.

With more people in the sport now it gets harder and harder to differentiate yourself. Skiing is always going to evolve and there will always be hate for the new style from the previous generation. The aspect that I think is awesome is that because there are more people each style can continue to progress independently of the old ones without the old dying out. The tall steeze won't die out the same way that the new wave won't just take over. I for one enjoy being able to see Keegan and Antti Ollila savagely throw down hammers in a video and then watch the Bunch flex skis in a way I never thought possible. I think there are awesome aspects to both and no one should be hating on originality.

Idk how this relates to "fuck comps".

It's also worth mentioning that the comp scene has come a long way these last few years; more creative courses, diverse rider lists, judges starting to reward style, everyone is coming with different runs - no longer just dun 10 to dub 12 all 4 ways.

unrelated but can anyone help me with my suspenders:

Fellow crust checking in...ski maitre'd style is tight, but dont shuffle on a park bench and put it in your team edit, that shit is stupid as fuck and no one wants to watch you flex your jank ass rockered urban assault ski at 4 miles an hour across cement. shout out to the actual high consequence stuff coming out from new wave riders, its just so weird to see it mixed in with something i could do when i was 6

They most definitely did not. Every ski trend is just a regurgitated snowboard trend which in turn is usually just a regurgitated skate trend. Nothing about the "new wave" is original it's all just whatever snowboarders did 2-3 years ago.

Both. Butters, hand drags, vx cams, track pants, thrift store clothes, more fitted look, pretty much everything about the "new wave" trend. Don't get me wrong I can dig creative skiing but this new trend is just obnoxious and unoriginal.

This times infinity. This new wave style is 100% a derivative of where skate culture is right now. IMO skateboarding is the OG "action sport" and all the others fall in suit behind wherever skating goes.

I think part of the reason people hold on to the "Tall-T era" is that this was the one trend/style that was unique to freestyle skiing, even from snowboarding to a certain extent.

The Bunch didn't create shit. Snowboarders were dressing like that in 2010... skateboarders before that. There were skiers dressing like vagrant hipsters before the Bunch even existed. I don't know what their reason for it was, but the Bunch as whole all conformed to one style and trend when they used to be an awesome collective of numerous styles and trends. There is nothing original about any of it.

I doubt that the Bunch expected to create a "Wave" - but they are certainly taking advantage of it. They have used it to promote and monetize themselves, their brand, partner with companies, etc... YOU KIDS ARE GETTING PLAYED


Also, I don't think the argument was ever "spin to win vs. creativity". It was spin to win vs style. Sucks that the new "style" is horrendous and cringe worthy

Neither. None of it is original. All has been done by snowboarders and skateboarders a decade ago. Even some skiers were getting down how the bunch gets down now almost a decade ago.

What the fuck is so wrong with this? Because youre not a fan of how their skiing looks? What is so bad about having something and running with it. They saw their opportunity and ran with it. More money to skiing that supports brands like on3p, tall t, and organic grass root brands like arsenic and cover textiles is fucking rad. I dont see how this is so bad and how the kids are “getting played”. Just bc its not jon brogan doesnt make it bad.

Watch seidel.no ski. Tell me his skiing isnt flawless and oozing style.

Yeah, I'm aware that Magnus Graner is an unoriginal hack that sold out on a way of skiing that at one point he thought was really cool. Why do real pro skiers (Henrik Harlaut, Phil Casabon, LJ Strenio, Tom Wallisch, Tanner Hall, etc.) not do that? Because they are true to themselves and their skiing and don't really care what the latest trend is... they are just doing their thing.

Of course Tall T Productions sells new wave shit. Thank you for helping me make my point. It is a massive trend that everyone in the industry is trying to get a piece of and make a dollar or two off of. Nothing original or grass roots about it.
