techniques for dealing with ski patrol

many times the best snow is accessed via ducking a rope. what are your guys' best strategy for handling ski patrol if you get caught? and what areas are the chillest about the rules?

patrol are such assholes I always tell them that that if they roped it off better and put a closed sign there I wouldn't 'go around' (under), claiming that the route I took didn't see any signs or ropes.
Also try the 'do you know who the fuck I am?'
Always put your pass in your pocket so they don't know who you are.

^word up...i figure that way if it does come down to it i can say i didn't buy a pass and the liftie didn't check it. then probs the worst that happens is i have to buy a day pass rather than lose my pass.

I'd suggest just being relaxed, you know you were in the wrong. Most places I ski have a no questions asked policy for closed or out of bounds. Unless of course you know the guy.

although its generally annoying talking to them about how your jump is unsafe to the majority of skiers on these runs, or equal bullshit, their usually pretty cool people. the only exception would be when i was like 10 and got pulled in for skiing too fast in a slow zone, damn that guy was an ass, didnt trust me to actually ski, so i had to wedge the entire way to the patrol office. but anyway just try and talk it out, or just run like fuck.

I was overheard talking about how gay it was that they were cutting people off to slow them down. Some bitchy ass ski patrol lady came over and started giving me shit and i said if he does it to me im going to hit him, she asked what i was using to ski and i said an overpriced lift ticket even though i had a season pass. Then i said 'why? are you going to take it because you were beeing unsafe and i had the balls to mention something?' (something similiar) she asked if i was in the roladex at northstar and i said no but you can put me in because i dont cut people off and ski unsafe and she said something i dont remember and left, whatta bitch.
Just dip your dong in paint and smack your helmet with it.

not ski patrol.... but this my friend ben threw a 5 off a table and this lady in the park with her little daughter told him ' you probably shouldnt be doing that here'

the only time patrol ever gets pissed off at my hill is when you're taking your last run at 11:00 when the hill closed at 10:30. they do NOT like seeing people when they're sweeping trails.

but, if you're chill, then they're chill.

just ski in throught he woods if you know the trail is closed. tell them you did, and say you will get off as soon as posseble. ski po anrt that unreasonable usually

Man, anyone who hates on patrol is a tool, they're there to do a job, where I ski the top five skiers and boarder are all patrolers or ex patrolers, and these are guys who've won the Jay Peal IFSA and big air consecutive times. I ski with the patrol almost everytime I ski, and the only time they crack down is when people give them attitude, my roomate is a patroler, and in 12 years he's only clipped 4 tickets,
just keep shit on the DL, be smart about jumping the ropes, and shut the fuck up and ski.
You know what the hardest part about snowblading is? telling your mom you're gay!

i hate to be the dick here but they close areas for a reason, ie they haven't been able to run avalanche control on the slope or its too unstable for them to deal with at the time, or has problems with exposed terrain and creek beds and such. so the fact that you buy a lift ticket or season pass means you agreed to follow these rules so don't call patrol dicks for kicking you out of closed terrain if you want to ski the good stuff get the right BC knowledge and go outta bounds in the right places and know what your doing don't just duck rope cuz you think ski patrol is hiding the goods from you

^Problem: resorts that close runs that should be open for no good reason. If they're worried that people who can't ski will go down there and hurt themselves, they can put the lines up, but they shouldn't be pissy when people who can deal with the terrain duck the lines.

i was skiing at a city hill..and they were stilll making snow on one part of the place, and the guy caught my friend and i skiing in the closed area..
shit he got on his snow mobile ans chased us to the chair. took out his knife and cut our lift tickets.
just don't grin. makes them more pissed off.

were i ski the patrols are only there to cart of the ppl that get hurt, we have 'courtesy ambassadors' who are nazis on skis...they're all fat guys in there 50's too

I know of alot of cool/sick ski patrollers, especially out west where they live out there and are just like us, but then there are guys back here in pennsylvania who are on huge power trips even though their job requires no skill and they are patrolling on a mountain with 450 feet of vert. those guys suck, and are commonly closet homosexuals

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.

I used to highly trained, highly qualified ski patrollers who are really good and skiing. They're still dicks most of the time if you've done anything wrong.
