BC Dream Road Trip

G'Day Newschoolers! In Feb we're heading to do the dream road trip. Powder highway. Powder Triangle (Plus Whistler). British Columbia. ~3 weeks. Were Australian. (Fancy that...Aussies in Whistler) Accommodation is obviously stupidly expensive. Especially for a month of skiing plus lift passes etc. So we are doing the RV thing.

Looking for recommendations on suitable parking spots that are not going to cost us a million bucks. FREE IS GOOD. Obviously Whis B/C is going to be a challenge. I hear they don't really like ski bums sleeping in their cars around town..where do we go? We could park in the camp ground but isn't it a fairly decent drunken stumble home from the centre of town? Hopefully we make friends with someone who'll let us park in there driveway.

Rossland/Red? How are the local authorities there? Apparently the ski bum capital is pretty relaxed. Everyone is stoked just to be there. I figure we should be fine to find somewhere to park there for a week or so. The same questions as above for below...Revelstoke, Maybe Fernie if we have time. Other resorts in the area. Don't know much about them in terms of leniency/freedom to park/sleep where you please. What are our chances...realistically... of sleeping in the rv the whole time.

Seeking recommendations on other sites and activities to undertake whilst cruisin. Anybody who wants to have a beer with a couple a legends, Please, We invite you with open arms to our RV (or a bar..would smell better) Also if any locals feel like sharing some secret stashes of POW, please, Lets go for s Skin! We're mid 20s. Experienced skiers with seasons of skiing under our belts.

Wow what a sick trip keep us posted. I have no recommendations for BC but some experience with RV’s its a good idea of course to bring a generator and a couple of hours extension chords, lots of times smaller gas stations will let you plug in for next to free and use their bathrooms. Just a suggestion.

I don't want to snitch on someones low key spot, but isn't there a heated garage near whis? Might be membership based but if you do take this route, be respectful and don't spoil it for others!

In revy there are two gas stations just before you get into town from Kamloops that has RV(ish) parking near the A&W. I've stayed here three nights no problems but I'm also just in a car. I've also heard the resort can be a good parking spot, although there may be a fee

I live in Revy. Resort lets you camp for 1 night in the resort lot (need to go to guest services for a camping pass) but if you stay longer and at the back of the parking lot, they won't say anything. I stayed for 2 weeks in my bus, they kicked me out when the resort closed lol. I live a 50 second drive from the resort and you could park at my place if you supply some beer. Also could show you some pow stashes. I work nights so I ski every morning and sleep all afternoon. Weekends off.

Few legends on here. All sounds like very positive feedback. We can certainly bring beer for the crew. Quality banter. And vegemite for all who are keen to try.

Thank you sir. I think the RV we are going to rent comes equiped with genny which is good!

Some mountains have heated parking garages for people who live in the area to keep their cars, especially in nice areas where people don’t want their car that they spent six figures on to get snowed on... if youre low key, you can sleep in your car in these and in some cases, theyre ski in ski out.

Whistler Campground is on the bus route home so youre all good there. Expensive but they are winter equipped so you can hook up to power and water and have hot showers.

Red mountain lets you camp in the parking lot. Even thibk they have power hook ups but I may be mistaken. And staying at the resort aint too bad theres a bar up there.

Revelstoke is free to camp in the parking lot I know some kids from Idaho and Montana who stay there for months with no complaints. Just post up in the back like that dude said. No power so bring a geny.

Yeah man it's a city of Revelstoke job I just landed to the wage is pretty tight as well.

Sorry for the double post but yeah the rafters bar at red mountain is fucking sweet. Second floor of the day lodge.

Thinking of doing Colorado to California with an epic pass. where did you rent the rv from?
