"Jake Amancio, 22, and Drew Lenz, 20, both of Bellingham, were reported overdue by a roommate Sunday afternoon when they didn’t return from a planned day of snowboarding in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. A search began Monday morning.

Sheriff’s officials and other teams, including the Border Patrol and several volunteer organizations, suspended the search Wednesday night amid concerns for avalanche danger after several days of heavy snow. They returned Friday during a break in the weather, Undersheriff Jeff Parks said."

One of my best friends is working as a lift attendant at Mt Baker. He says it's pretty gnarly out there, they have to dig the lifts out when it dumps, also 800 inches a year is nuts. Apparently in 1998 they got 1200 inches. Also mt baker is like an hour and a half from the nearest hospital, so good luck if you hurt yourself.

Ya they already have an 80 inch base, its insane up there.

Not surprised because conditions were hectic and they were missing for a full week. Sucks though. Only 20 and 22.

I asked my friend I previously mentioned in this thread if he knew anything about the situation. It turns out one of the boarders was his roomate in the Mt. Baker employee housing last season. Small world, RIP to both of them.
