Boot Dryers For Your House?

Hey there. Wondering what people have at home for boot dryers. Usually I keep my boots at the mountain, but the place I'm at now doesn't have an option. Also don't have a heater vent in my room.

Just wondering if anybody has any specific recommendations. I was thinking of getting some of those little ones you throw in your boots overnight. Trying to keep from having too much bulky stuff since I move around a lot. Anybody have any experience with these? I'd have at least a full 8 hours to dry every time. Also probably not riding everyday. Do they work? Or should I stick with some of the bigger upright boot dryer options?

I use these and just stick them in the liner. They work amazing. Always dry the next morning.

I don't really see the purpose of boot dryers if you live in a house.i lived in my camper in hood this summer and that bitch can get cold. but I just bring my liners inside with and they're good the next day.some cars shoot heat from vents to the floor from the vents and you can tuck your boots under there.

Um....

The purpose would be to turn my wet boots into dry boots. A sort of alchemy I guess.

I don't want to pull my liners out. I've had experience with ones that I pulled out regularly not fitting in as well and staying solid. The liners move more.

Basically I'm getting boot warmers, they aren't expensive. Maybe I came to the wrong place for advice.

Amazon reviews it is.

Anyway, I use the hotronic model, most shops have them for 50-60, but Amazon has them for 79. They don't get terribly hot (which I actually like, as I don't want the liners to lose their shape). The only issue is they don't move a lot of air. But they have a timer, which is nice. If I am traveling (which I do a lot) I will set these up in my hotel room and let my boots dry while I go to dinner/ watch Netflix. Do the job great for the price

Backcountry has them too

I use this glove dryer thing (basically a hot air vent with a tube to put in your gloves) and when my gloves are done, I put it in my boots

I would also really consider taking the liners out. There is moisture between the outside of the liner and the inside of the shell. very tough to dry out otherwise

yeah, wet boots for a long time = smelly boots. My boots would be on all day, so they would be pretty damp. My boots (QST Pro 130) are a pain in the ass to get the liners in and out, but I still make the effort.

My Process is to take the liners out, take the insoles out of the liners, put the dryer in the liners for at least an hour. Then, about an hour before bed, I put everything back together, but keep the dryer going inside the liners. Then shut everything down, but don't pack the boots til morning (let them keep drying). Works like a charm.

Used those shoe dogs them a few times on my boots they worked well. But they definitely work amazing for shoes.

Shoes are still absolutely soaked. Maybe I should get a camper lol.

Prolly ordering something today. On the plus I wont need to ride for work, so my boots shouldn't get as fucked, and should have more time to dry.

I can vouch for these too, my dad got me some for christmas when I was in highschool and they're still going like 4 years later. I just keep my liners in my boots, stick these in there from when I get off the hill till I go to bed, then throw my mittens on them overnight. works great.

I sweat like a mother fucker so my liners are almost always wet after a day on the hill. I rigged up some pvc pipe work to the end of an old hair drier i had laying around. leave the thing on low heat and high speed, place the liners over the two pipes with holes drilled all around them, liners would be dry usually within the hour. May be a little bulky for your needs but hey, its a thought

I used the hairdryers if I'm traveling

My buddy was trying to build a boot heater the last 2 summers. He never got it right but it was an interesting process. Thicker almost 100ml pvc about 8 feet long. Drilled holes and glued in pieces of conduit. Then were rigging a fan to the front of it. I think at one point we tried 2. Never got it working good enough though. I think we disassembled it and used the pvc for teaching kids how to hop onto rails.

If I ever get a house I'd love to build a big rack style one.

shit, that sounds waaaay more intense than mine haha would be dope to have a giant rack one though... maybe it's time for an upgrade.

Well if you have several people trying to dry you gotta go big. Didn't work out but it was a noble effort. You can buy some of the big rack ones. I've seen them at a lot of ski areas. Would be cool to build one though.

Yea we're always fighting over the one we got now, def worth a shot to build a bigger one - maybe 2 or 3 boots at a time would be a good start. Gotta build it though, buying something is the easy and boring way out lol

theres a company called DryGuy that makes a damn good product. Have had the same dryer for two + years with no issues.

I have this same one. Probably the best I've had yet. Also have one called job site friend or something like that and it's a made in china version of the same thing. Both work fine but the Peet is black and made in 'Merica F' Yeah. I keep both of them by the door and they get used year round for ski boots, gloves, and our other shoes.

Actually read your thread and have to say I recommend pulling out your liners to dry them. Might not be as bad with snowboard boots but ski boots are heavy and I've actually snapped one of the plastic tubes right off on one of these boot dryers because of the weight of the boot. Also I think they dry significantly faster when you pull out the liners.

It seems like it's far more necessary for ski boots. Idk. Some of my friends pull them out, some of my friends don't. Only issue we've ever had is when some peoples boots are super fucked with the stank. Keeping em dry and dumping some powder in everyones boots on the crew usually works.

I've personally had boots where I pulled the liners out and after words they never stayed right. I would get heal lift from the liners lifting up. Shit was pretty annoying. I thought about just gluing the liners back in. I probably should have but don't think I've ever did.

I usually take em out of the shell and put them over my heating vent. I got these little cones that fit perfectly over them for drying gloves, hats, etc, and they work great.

Awesome, btw check the boots after the first cycle. Sometimes it isnt completely dry and they need two rounds.

adding to the thread for when i get home, sort of similar to the black one posted above but it has four tubes for air and different attachments for boots and gloves and helmets, was a chirstmas gift the year i started ski instructing, it has a timer and an option for cold or warm air which is extremely useful also.

if you don't your liners will be wet and breakdown faster. I can get 300 days (2 years) out of the liner and I use a boot dryer everyday. It's a must. my wife has a boot bag that drys her boots. that works well too.

I recommend the Dry Guy Force DX boot dryer, it dries the boots well and is easy to remove the boot from the dryer. I used the Peet boot drier for multiple years before getting the dry guy and it was a pain to get the boots off and I eventually cracked the base when I was being careless removing a boot.

Usually my shell falls apart by then or if the liner breaks its usually the pull strings. Only had one pair that lasted long enough to fuck the liners and they got worked
