Applied there yesterday as an after-school job. Has anyone here had experience working there? Would I get hired to work part-time even though I'm in high school?

If you get hired, you will likely hate it. They will only give you hours when they really need you, which means Friday evenings and weekends. You don't get a say in this, that's just what they give you and you have to show up. It's retail, so it's a given that it sucks.

Perks are that you will get some great deals on gear. However, you will be making so little that it's hard to rationalize spending several grand on gear, which is far more than you're making. Basically you need to come to terms with the idea that if you get hired, you will no longer be able to have fun on the weekends or the happening weeknights. Also, they will give zero fucks that you want to ski. And they will pay you minimum wage, or very close to it.

That's true. I worked there for a little while in like 2005. The people were nice, nicer than most retail slave ships anyway, but yeah the scheduling was awful. It'd like come in and work from 9-1 on Saturday, and then 2-5 on Sunday. Fantastic I am sacrificing my entire weekend to come in and make 35 dollars in wages. Also you learn what your schedule will be like 2 days in advance so you can't plan anything, and you can't just have a day off you gotta get some other poor fuck to cover your shift which your managers will not help with. "I said when I got hired that I can't work Mondays, why am I always scheduled for Monday." I think you get ten percent off retail price though, which is like almost cheaper than buying gear online.
