Kind of a weird question, but who do you think is the most influential freeskier? We have all heard the statements that "such and such would not exist if were not for ________". This thread is not to discredit anyone who has passed, but rather to celebrate some of the good things done by skiers gone too soon.

Some influential skiers that come to my mind would be JP, CRJ, and McConkey..

Man this bums me out.
But I’ll be honest and say Sarah Burke bc after she passed, I feel like it brought the guy and girl skiers a lot closer than before and I first hand saw a lot more encouragement for chicks from dudes that kill it.

For me, it would be Matt Heffernan. He is the epitome of a time, place, and style for me (park city circa 2008 - 2014). I have always been inspired by his talent. I didn't know him initially, but I knew his name. He had a pretty big presence on NS and was pumping out a lot of way dope content from Ohio back in the day (2005). It was really cool to watch him move out to UT for college and blow up! Privilege to work with him through Bloom too. Makes me a bit sad and nostaligic writing this. Life changes fast.

CR had such a unique style of oldschool/newschool. Haven't seen anything like it.

Also, can't forget the actual CRJ ski was ahead of its time and shows how good he was.

Women's skiing wouldn't be anywhere near it is today without Sarah Burke. After she passed women's skiing has been progressing at a snails pace compared to when she was alive. Also JP and Mcconkey will always have their footprints left on the sport.

Growing up in MN skiing ice covered hills with 300' of vert, my walls were covered with torn out pages from Freeze and Powder. Living large on every inch of free space on my bedroom walls, were the skiers that showed me skiing wasn't just a hobby, or recreational sport; it was a way of life. The same skiers inspired and motivated me to abandon my flat and frozen homelands and move west to ski real mountains, with real snow; jah bless T Hall.

...of the ripping legends that once adorned my bedroom walls, only one is still making turns here on earth, while the others shred on infinitely.
