Finding Lost skis

I looked into it and honestly borrowing or getting a decent metal detector apparently works really well, that and a shovel. If your find your skis your might want to use a powder leash or even a pair of tiny bluetooth ski locaters, Good luck

You may have already tried this, but maybe an avalanche probe could help. It would certainly be less exhausting than endless shoveling.

I lost a ski one time and spent a good chunk of the afternoon looking for it. The resort was going to close and i had to get back to the front side, so I gave up. Luckily, on my way down, I saw the tail sticking out of a tree well where the terrain started to flatten out. I was really surprised with how far it had gone under the snow.

Maybe it is still downhill from where you covered? good luck!!

yeah my one tip would be to consider that the ski might have traveled farther than you thought. every time ive had to look for a ski in pow it's been a surprise

I've actually seen this happen a few times. Unfortunately, if you didn't find it last weekend it's unlikely you'll find it this weekend. The only tips I can give you are to try and judge the direction of your fall, what angle did the skis eject to? Hopefully, you can come up with a decent guess and then you should just go at it with an avy shovel (use it like a wide probe). Keep in mind that skis often end up pretty far away from where you ejected and your ski sliding 15 meters beneath the snow wouldn't leave any tracks. If all else fails, go back once everything's melted and retrieve you're rusty derelict ski.

Some dude lost one of my shop's demo Bentchetlers early last season and we got it back in April but it was in pretty rough shape. Another dude had just bought a brand new pair of Volkl Katana's which he had mounted with Griffon's for some reason. The shop that did the work for him didn't adjust the DIN which was set to like 5 or some shit. Needless to say, he lost a ski on his second pow turn and never found the ski. I never heard how that got resolved but it was a hell of a way to waste $1100.

I lost a ski for like 3 days when i used to live at steamboat..... I had already bought different skis when this kid named roundhouse who lived on peoples couches found it in a tree well after tomahawking off the same cliff I did when I lost it. The irony was fool didn't even have a pass but I had showed him how to sneak up by back dooring the gondola and that is how he got up the day he found my ski. It was great I got to the bottom of storm peak and my friends roommate was the lifty and he was like Ham I got something for ya. It was my lost Rasta painted vokil karma and since it was spray painted every one knew it was mine. Moral of the story spray paint your shit and then owe some wook named roundhouse a bunch of beer.

I have not found it. I've been up multiple times in the off-season to look. I've written it off as a sacrifice to the mountain.
