Me and some buddies have been working on a snake run up at cameron pass about an hr north of fort collins and wanna bring some pvc rails up. Where can we find some of those fat pvc tubes for free? There aren't any on craigslist

Hit up some construction companies. They usually have out of code or old cutoffs laying around. Paving comps are best

basically your only option is to steal them from construction sites or ask them if they have ones they dont need.

find a construction site, and look for some pipes that look like they aren't being used, for example: I found a construction site with a pile of some small pieces of pvc pipe, but there was also a few 10 foot pieces.

There was a construction site by my school and there were some just sitting there for like a month. Me and my buddies really wanted them so we just wrote a not on them with our phone number on it. We got a call and a guy gave them to us for free. If you try to buy them they're super expensive you gotta find them somewhere. Check construction sites for remnants.

In my experience, pvc can be generally be purchased from hardware stores, but generally the tubes you can buy in stores tend to be smaller and thinner than the ones used by construction companies. Construction sites often have tubes just lying around, so either just straight up take them, or ask the people working there if they have any they dont need.

I wouldn't recommend stealing them from anywhere. If one were to end up getting caught one could potentially get charged with grand theft or grand larceny. The larger CPVC and other types of pipes, 6'', 8'', 10'' etc. Get ridiculously expensive $30-50 per foot easy.
Better idea to ask a foreman, maybe look through some dumpsters and find other useful materials for building backyard features.
