Any one into bitcoin?

I hear these crazy story's about people who got in right when it was pennies. And even a year ago today it was only 700. As we speak the price is at 7600 and rising. I'm Learning about Elliot wave theory and how to read trading charts to max profit. If your into this message me. I'm using coinbase and only have bought 250$ and I have made 38.45 in growth in just over 2 weeks. Not going has grown from 5800 a week ago to 7600 now. It a crazy growth. I just use the coinbase app right on my phone. It does charge fees and I'm not stoked on the app. Does anyone know a platform for trading that doesn't have fees? Any info is appreciated.

I thought it was too high to buy in at $300. That said if I was in at anything under $1k I would fucking sell now. 700%+ is good enough for me.

I wasn't sure if it would get shutdown, but now everybody is doing it. That said, it seems like people are buying it just to buy it. Who knows what till happen in the future.

I can buy and sell with a push of a button. It's super easy. Now seems relatively cheap when you consider 1 will be worth at least a million by 2020. Load up now boys. I'm trying to get rich. I've wasted so much miney in my life on dumb shit. This time I'm gonna make money from my spending. And it's definitely better then my saving account interest.

I'm the only person I know of that even does this. Most don't even know what it is or care to learn a out it. It's on par with trying to explain I ski but not like a normal skier. With lame ass gear and well how I perceive people who dont ski perceive skiers. I usually say I identify more with a snowboarder than a skier. To describe my style of skiing. Off topic a bit I guess

Hindsight is 20/20. But seriously go look and try to understand how bitcoin is made. You're literally buying money made by a computer. Very very very stupid and incredibly complex in my opinion. None of it is backed by physical value. Not insured by any government. All it takes is a huge event where everyone loses their bitcoin and the value will plummet. Its great if you're a criminal though. It has to peak sometime. Sure I could be wrong, but it seems crazy overvalued right now.

Saw this quote from Warren Buffet regarding Bitcoin. Pretty much sums it up. Also the risk right now is crazy high so not even worth it to jump in: "Stay away from it. It's a mirage basically. It's a method of transmitting money. It's a very effective way of transmitting money and you can do it anonymously and all that. A check is a way of transmitting money, too. Are checks worth a whole lot of money? Just because they can transmit money? I hope bitcoin becomes a better way to do it. But you can replicate it a bunch of different ways. The idea that it has some huge intrinsic value is just a joke in my view."

I'm into crypto, I have money int bitcoin, bitcoin cash and etherum. I think bitcoin will crash or restructure soon just because it's getting so big. People are getting in it just to make money which is the very definition of a speculative bubble. Long term though I think as Bicoin becomes more and more accepted and the fact that it's a decentralized currency that isn't controlled by central banks will make it a wayyyyy more prevalant thing.

I made an effort to buy litecoin maybe 5 o 6 years ago when it was in the pennies range. There was just no easy way to do it in Canada without going through really sketchy websites and I gave up after a while of trying. Definitely should have made a better effort as I would have been quite well off right now.

Anyone who says they know what will happen with bitcoin in the future is lying. However, it seems like it is unlikely to crash to zero any time soon (if it does, another coin would take it's place)

Cryptocurrencies are here to stay IMO. Bitcoin as of right now is an unimpeded representation of the free market. It's value fluctuates pretty much purely because of market influences, and it avoids a lot of the manipulation that goes on with centralized markets like stocks (although there can be some). A lot of concerns people have about bitcoin are because they don't know much about it. If you have bitcoin in a wallet and own the keys, there's no way it can be "lost", short of you losing the wallet. There is a keycode that corresponds to your bitcoin so it won't disappear.

And while bitcoin has nothing backing it (theoretically) besides the collective valuation in people's minds, fiat currency doesn't have much backing it either. Money is all imaginary. The only reason anything is worth something is because we all agree on it's worth.

I'd imagine that bitcoin/crypto will keep going up and up barring a catastrophe. Its at less than 1% global capitalization right now. Imagine if 50% of people on the earth begin to use bitcoin for transactions. It will be worth a shitload. Hard to predict any exact range though

got torched by litecoin, bought in right before all that china news happened, finally back at about 80% of what I bought in at. Still hopeful.

Well the dollar actually has physical backing. Bitcoin is created by mining code. Literally has ZERO physical backing. Sure people trade bitcoin for goods and services which in tern gives it value, but the actual origin has shit value, whereas the dollar is backed by gold.

I hope I'm wrong and you all make it big, but at $7000 bitcoin, the risk is more more to lose than gain. To double your profits buying in now, it would have to raise to $14000. Much different than buying in when it was lower.

Price has been crashing ever since the impending hard fork was cancelled. I think it's a good thing though, btc has already forked into too many different currencies

Not really financial advice, more of an opinion. God forbid I didn't realize 1 fact that the USD hasn't been backed by gold since 1971.

No, no it isn't.

Bitcoin is not backed by anything.

You've currently got 3 types of money globally; fiat money, commodity money, and complementary money.

Fiat money is money that is backed by a government, like the USD, EURO, etc. The supply is controlled through monetary policy as dictated by a central bank.

Commodity money is money that is made of gold, silver, or other precious goods. Money supply here, in its purest form, is dictated by the amount of the good there is globally. I do not believe there is a single government-backed commodity currency in the world anymore.

Complementary money is a currency that is not recognized legally as a national currency. This includes all cryptocurrencies and local currencies (currencies that are unique to a certain region but can be exchanged at an official rate for the official national tender).

Let's give an example on why complementary currencies can be dangerous.

So long as there is a government (in good standing) backing it, a fiat currency will hold value. The only way for a fiat currency to lose value is for the government backing it to collapse or renege on their debt repayments.

So long as there is intrinsic value to the material used for a commodity money (it can be used for a purpose other than money), and it has value as money, it will hold value. It will only lose value if people devalue its usage as a commodity and as a currency.

When you come to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, their value is dependent upon their acceptance. If the world was to suddenly stop accepting bitcoins as a form of payment, the "value" would plummet. There would be nothing you could do with your bitcoins because they can hold no other purpose nor be backed by anything in exchange.

Not interested in Bitcoin. Bitcoin is just one small piece of the blockchain technology wave. Focus on blockchain and how you can put yourself in a position to earn various forms of cryptocurrencies and build a portfolio. The security is in your numbers, and the growth rates are obvious. I do believe Bitcoin will ultimately reach a point where it peaks and the bubble bursts based on the fact that there is limited bitcoin. The sustainability of Bitcoin is entirely dependent on Satoshi Nakamoto and the direction he believes the currency should be headed. Satoshi can shut it down, or allow for the creation of more Bitcoin, everyone with an investment is riding on that very elusive man's ultimate decision (Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym, by the way, nobody knows his real name). While everyone may believe it's in Satoshis best interest to continue building Bitcoin, there are other cryptocurrencies which are more secure and therefore have huge value for actual organizations i.e. banks, schools, etc. Some institutions have begun accepting Bitcoin (Private School in NYC), however, i don't agree those institutes personal valuations matter as much as the market and Satoshis decisions. Also, Satoshi could be running the worlds largest, longest, most successful P&D scheme in history (Satoshi owns more bitcoin than anyone else). Alternatively, this limited supply of Bitcoin could have been very purposeful and designed to test the effectiveness of Bitcoin. At the end of the current supply, Satoshi may choose to expand and advance the technology, in which case i still believe a bubble will burst, considering the supply of Bitcoin will have to be 1) flooded massively or 2) flooded incrementally both of which lower the price of Bitcoin assuming people see through the ultimate control Satoshi has over this system (Government Regulation vs. "Satoshi Nakamoto" the group or person).

Also if you're investing in Bitcoin please read this and tell me you honestly understand where the value in Bitcoin itself comes from https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf Bitcoin is described as a channel by Satoshi, as far as he's concerned, Bitcoin is a paper check everybody has attached value to due to it's "un-regulated" status, and I do believe a vast majority of the "value" in Bitcoin comes from the false assumption that it truly is an entirely unregulated system. Bitcoin split into Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash this past summer. Bitcoin Cash the better younger brother of Bitcoin is supposedly superior because the difficulty of mining can be adjusted. I.e. The difficulty went up 300% at one point, the price dropped, as expected. Something about that doesn't seem very de-regulated to me. Seems like one guy is holding all the cards. Yea but if you look in the last 2 months its up 35%.. day by day and minute by minute it can be stressful though. With bitcoin though it makes large gains where etherium goes up 15% then drops back down bitcoin goes up huge amount so its easier to get in on when you notice that. But ya on the long haul if eth blows up your good. But its all guessing i think. I find bitcoin easier to deal with when it fluxiates thousands you only move a little bit so its easier to take you know with etherium its just up and down so quick the gains are only 10 bucks a day at most bitcoin just keeps soaring. Its gone from 5500 to 7500 back and forth 3 times so you could have gained 25% on your money 3 times and the actually price only went up 2000 but you took that 2000 25% time 3 time you just made 75% on your money you see how if you dont just let it sit there you can avoid the loss. Bc if u just did nothing you would have had that gain only once even tho it went back and forth 3 times your just back at 7500 got nothing from it going back and forth. Does that make sense i dont know if i am but.. its all very complex and strategical.. this is my strategy and my opinion by no means am I a expert just trying to learn all I can. I appreciate this post blowing up so much and for all of you to give your time to add what you think. It amazing how a ski website can transcend that subject and talk about other stuff some of us find interesting. I appologize for puntuation i am on the phone app. But im stoked we are at a pivotal point right now where the wrold is changing and money can be made and lost quick quicker than ever before.

I've been really into it lately!!! I don't know what Coinbase charges for fees, but Gemini charges a flat fee of 0.25%. It's really handy because then you can buy very small amounts at a time and average out your price paid. BTC has tons of opportunities to make money on!

Lolz, well....you are wrong. Research Bitcoin wallets and how hard it is to steal people's BTC.. Also, if you're using exchanges they have a HUGE incentive to protect your transactions. Really the only place where people will lose BTC to hackers is ghetto transactions that are illegal. Also.. The USD isn't backed by physical value, the USD has value because people decide it has value and they accept it. Same with Bitcoin. People decide how much value it has, and there's only a certain amount of BTC that can be mined.....gov't is always printing more dollars....

I hope you realize that figures like that say bad things about BTC so that the price goes does and then they buy, and then sell when it recovers. Mark Cuban. Look it up.. He called Bitcoin a "bubble" and then invested in it...??? I hope you realize that despite everything Buffet is saying, we all know he has some BTC.....

Do not equate the USD to Bitcoin in that sense. Please.

One has a store of value, the other does not.

That is probably the singular most important aspect of a currency.

And you can lose Bitcoins if your exchange fucks up.

Yeah, I see your point about the risk. But Coinbase and Gemini use AWS sooo.. I'm not saying AWS is perfect but it's not some server in a dudes closet (or Hong Kong) than can be easily hacked

Bitcoin slipped from a record after the $31 million theft of a cryptocurrency peer renewed concern about the security of digital coins.


The company behind tether, a cryptocurrency used by bitcoin exchanges to facilitate trades with fiat currencies, announced the theft on Tuesday. It said in a statement that a “malicious” attacker removed tokens from the Tether Treasury wallet on Nov. 19 and sent them to an unauthorized bitcoin address. The company said it’s trying to prevent the stolen coins from being used.


Bitcoin dropped as much as 5.4 percent to $7,798.73, before paring the decline to 0.7 percent at 11:32 a.m. in London.

I bought litecoin around Sept of 2017 for like $43 a pop. Started with 18ish, have traded for a while, and now have 73. I hope to see another ath and I'll sell, wait, and buy again. It's my way of investing/saving for the future. Pretty risky, but fuck it. Nothing ventured, nothing earned.
