So I was at the Toronto Ski Show, and saw some ridiculously expensive, and ridiculous looking skis. Apparently, they're custom-made in Switzerland, by Zai skis. The one with the fucked up tip is supposed to be a pow ski, but I've got no idea how that shovel design would help in pow. Anybody wanna enlighten me to the secret? Also, post the most fucked up skis you've seen.

I was looking at those too, and asked about the ones with the hole in them and swallowtail. The guy said that they are solid carbon milled til they are flexy enough to be an actual ski. I think they're absurd and will have zero benifit, they weren't even light. He said you get a free pair if you buy a Bugatti, but he also said they ran out of Bugattis first haha.

It's an interesting concept, but I feel that if it had any actual benefit, we would be seeing it in race skis.

The only place ive ever seen those zai skis is in Harrods..
No bullshit last season i was in a lift line behind a guy who was fucking wearing these! He was up ahead of me and I had to wait for my friends so I was quite a few chairs behind him. We get on the chair and as I look down I see the fucking guy with these on tomahawking down the run under the chair. It was the funniest shit hahaha.

They have the swallow tail and hole in them to try to keep them light because composite materials are heavy as fuck. Wood has better characteristics for a core when used in a sandwich style construction over a solid composite design. These skis only exist to sell to those with a lot of money, it's a marketing gimmick, nothing more.

Those are my skis, everyone else thinks they are weird tho
Park_RangerThe Epic Planks Ripper. They basically didn't have a tip or a tail... just flat pieces of wood. Trying to land on those must have been so scary.
Blister Gear Review says these are directional skis with rockered tips, doesn't seem to be anything unusual about that. That is basically the same as ON3P Wrenegade, Line Sick Day, Line Supernatural, etc.

1.) Why would you ever trust anything that Epic Planks/Revision ever said? Those skis are not directional skis with rockered tips.
2.) Did you ever see a pair in person or talk to someone that rode them? They barely had a tip and tail and apparently sucked so bad.
3.) https://vimeo.com/47657423 Plenty of shots in this edit that show what I am talking about. Pause at :17, :41, :53, at 1:47 you can see how unstable the skis are while he is riding fast. Basically, just pause on any landing in that edit and you will see that the skis basically have no rocker and are flat pieces of wood.

I didn't say that I heard it from Epic/Revision, I said I read it at Blister Gear Review. If you think you know more about a ski than the guys at Blister then you are mistaken. Here's a link to the Blister Review with a photo of the rocker profile, there is nothing unique about this ski. http://blistergearreview.com/gear-reviews/2012-2013-epic-planks-ripper/3

Lol... I could care less about what some Salesman has to say about a piece of shit ski. Unlike you, I have ridden on those skis and know a number of others, including Epic Planks team riders, who have as well. It is a unanimous opinion that those skis are not rockered and are some of the sketchiest skis ever made.

Reading the comments on that review... those poor people. Comparing these pieces of shit to Armada TST and Volkl Katans. Epic Planks was hustling people long before Revision

In your previous post you said that "landing on those must have been so scary," which indicates that you have not actually ridden them.
I have no doubt that the skis are sketchy, but you can't look at the photos and deny that the skis are rockered.

Lol, fuck me if you think I was about to hit a jump on those things. I borrowed a friends and they were so wobbly and sketchy and the tips were like 2 cm off of the snow.
I was referring to team riders that were trying to send in those skis. I watched homie try to dub 12 on those and it was fucked up how many times he caught his tip in the snow trying to land switch

Lol... my bad, I didn't mean the Ripper. I meant the Vaporizer. The Epic Planks Vaporizer is the ski that I have been referring too - those skis do not have a tip and tail and are the sketchiest skis ever made.

That explains the discrepancy. I watched the videos you posted of the Vaporizer and it looks like a complete death trap, I would double eject off of those things just trying to carve a turn.
