Beards and Skiing

This will be my first ski season with a beard and I don't really want to shave it. do any of you guys ski with beards? Would you recommend it or have any tips or tricks?

It take awhile to get use to the amount of women you will attract with an awesome beard but you'll get used to it.

I can’t grow a bear very well but one of my goals in life is to have a massive beard and ski some gnarly ass backcountry pow lines with face shot after face shot so my beard freezes up with all the snow.

My beard ranges from about a half inch to an inch depending on how lazy I get. I still wear a facemask almost every day but I've always exposed my mustache. It freezes when it's cold but you'll learn quickly to carry some kleenex with you whenever you ski lol. If its a huge gnarly beard you probably wont end up wearing masks all that often, I've got some friends that just rock it but i'm sensitive and get cold easier so I still wear a mask or tube.

Yes, do it! I grew my beard out last year and at the end of a pow day, it was covered in snow. My mustache had 1 inch icicles on it. It was awesome hahahaha....very warm too.

No mask? No problem.

I've shaved mine twice in the last year and a half but let it grow right back each time. Originally just grew stopped shaving because I wanted to look homeless in meetings at this shitty mountain. Then I was traveling for a month and change and figured, why shave now. Then I was like, beards are kinda chill, maybe I'll keep it.

I think I'm into it though. My beard has an "I could fuck you up, but I'm a very nice/trustworthy person" and I'm neither of those things.

My beard is a mask, a shield, to block the eyes of the world from my true self. When I am bearded I am free to be who I want. Combine a beard with a fresh pair of shades and it's the ultimate hater blocker. Bad vibes be warned, I'm enjoying life and y'all can fuck off. Honestly, just ask somebody on the hill with a beard if they're having a great day, the answer will obviously be yes. With a vast array or beardsicles dangling off, a beer in each hand, and an axe strapped to their back who wouldn't be. The bearded are the ultimate warriors, the last protectors of the mountains. In blizzard or bluebird, in sickness or health, powder or corn, the bearded man will be there, watching over the forest and all the creatures within.

Oh yeah and chicks be digging them bears. Paul bunyan was the laughing stock of his class. No friends, nobody to sign his yearbook. Then in college, Paul grew a beard. The rest is history. Don't believe me? Wiki that shit.

I have a beard, it's trimmed to a #5, and I ski with a mask. Beards don't keep your face warm, or keep snow/ice from freezing your beard into one big clump. I do put tea tree oil in my beard, makes it soft, so it's not scratchy like your mom's bush.

...Bonus with the oil in the beard, when I wear a mask/tube it helps hide the ski funk/ spliff stank that accumulates during the season

How long is a #5? Are we talking like trimmed 1in metrosexual beard or massive Paul Bunyan beard? Sorry I'm not a trimmer expert. A beard definitely helps. To say it doesn't keep your face warm is quite general. Shave your beard mid winter and go for a walk outside. The difference is instantly noticeable. Obviously it isnt as good as a facemask, but helps quite a bit.

last 7 seasons ive had desk jobs out west and thus had to jeep a trimmed beard like a 2-5 max. This year I’m off the desk and skiing full time at jhmr and then ak hopefully. Looking forward to my longest beard yet and already getting it started
