Replying to Returning to skiing after ACL construction
Hi newchoolers,
I tore my ACL in the October of last year, 2016, and it will be a year from my surgery in November. I've worked hard in PT and have been working on my own for about 4-5 months. Obviously, after missing an entire season, I'm crazy stoked for this season, especially because i'll be based at the loaf this year, rather than Wachusett. My surgeon had told me I could only stick to groomers, and the last thing I want is to do my knee again (could not handle that). I know, at least initially, I'm not going to be the same skier as I was before, but I wanted to get advice from people who have successfully made it back to skiing after an ACL tear: how should I prepare physically, and what to do when I get on the slopes (should I really just stick to groomers?). I didn't tear it skiing, so it's less mental, other than just the general fear now of tearing it again.
Thanks guys!
